12oz Bottle I recieved a bottle of this in another great trade with BitterBill, in an overly full box of beer. Thanks Bill! Bachelor ESB empties from the bottle a fairly clear tarnished copper. Two fingers worth of clean white head formed on the pour and rather quickly fell to a kim coat, leaving some nice patchy lacing on it’s way. Large carbonation bubbles creep to the surface and keep the skimming where it’s at. Interesting aroma on this ESB. Very mineralish over the top of biscuity malts and a drizzling of caramel. There’s a solid grassy hoppiness, which is what I expect from and American ESB, along with a touch of citrus in there as well. A little sweetness evens things out. This is a damn good brew! The malt and hoppiness seem to balance each other out until a nice soft grassy and citric bitterness takes over. Much like the aroma suggests the malts come across biscuity and drizzled wit hcaramel to add a touch of sweetness. The grassy hoppiness balances things out and a ghost like wave of citrus comes through. The body is nicely dialed in but, this is just me being picky, the carbonation seems to be a little aggressive for the style. The carbonation seems just a little prickly. This is definately an easy drinker with a lot of flavor to boot. Good sessionability from an American style ESB. Deschutes makes some quality brew and this is no exception. It’s tough to find good American ESBs but this fits the bill. Thanks again for the sample Bill! 4/5/08

Golden beer with orange shine, good yellowish head. Nice bitter nose, hoppy, fine noble hops. Fine bittery taste, some malt cookie sweetness, impression of corn. Medium bodied, slick. Warming up, the sample shows some oxidation. Very good golden ale.

Bottled at SBWF08. Clear amber with a low white foam. Rather clean aroma of caramel, flowers, spicy hops and red berries. Medium-bodied with fruity notes of berries, figs, caramel and butter. Clean mouthfeel. medium-bitter finish of grass, spices and grapefruit.

Big malty head with a slight hint of fruit and spice to balance it out. Could use a little more hoppiness, but not a bad brew.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with orange peel, blood oranges and caramel. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, orange peel, blood oranges and earthy hops in the finish. Not very bold, but really tasty and fresh. Well made stuff.

Bottled@SBWF2008. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is grass, hops and mild notes of fruityness. Flavour is hops, grass and quite boring.
