Aroma was mainly roasted malts with lgiht coffee tones. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Enjoyed this on the Amtrak between Vancouver and Seattle. Pours a dark brown with a thin ring of foam on the top. Aroma quite simple, vaguely sweet. Light roasted chocolaty taste, blandly sweet with light diacetyl. Lightly creamy body, decent carb. I do like the light roastiness of this porter, which I almost mistook for a stout. Quaffable and light, as far as porters go. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. Decent porter. Roasty, smooth, nothing incredible, but enough awesomeness to qualify as aight. Definitely gets better as it warms. can8ianben (911), Pasadena, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Aroma is hard to detect. Maybe some sweet burnt toffee notes? Black in color, light reveals some dark brown highlights. Thick frothy head in my pour at the Yard House. Flavor is rich, but not overbearing in terms of smoky tones. This is a very drinkable porter. Somewhat watery as most porters are, but balanced and smooth. Complex enough to enjoy, simple enough for the masses. This may not win any contests, but they have crafted a mighty fine beer here. nickd717 (1392), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Black in color with a tan head. Coffee dominates the aroma. Coffee and roasted malts on the flavor with mild fruitiness. Creamy, fairly full-bodied mouthfeel. Boutip (2397), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 25, 2009 Bottle: Poured a medium clear black color porter with large light brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of black chocolate and light dry coffee notes are very pleasant. Taste is a nice mix between some bitter black chocolate notes with some light fry coffee and a subtle roasted malt bitter finish. Body is a bit too thin with some great carbonation. Very well done and something that IU would probably buy again if I had access to it.
