APPEARANCE: Pours a dark brown color with reddish highlights and large tan head with good retention. A tiny bit of lacing. AROMA: Roasted malt, chocolate and a little earthy hops. Not a ton of aroma but gets better as it warms. FLAVOR: Similar to aroma, starts with roasted malts and finishes with the bit of dark chocolate that lingers on the sides of your tongue for quite awhile. MOUTHFEEL: A medium-full bodied beer that has a creamy almost chewy texture. Soft fizzy carbonation. DRINKABILITY: This is a very smooth beer. Not a lot of complexity but really well balanced. NOTES: BBCSD-0901-Mike

12oz bottle courtesy of mfielden. Pours a murky brown to black color with amber highlights. Two finger tan head settles slowly and heavily laces the glass. Aroma is slightly sweet and malty with notes of dark chocolate, ripe dark fruit, roasted malts and coffee, some brown sugar and molasses. Flavor is sweet and roasty with notes of toasted malt, dark chocolate, ripe dark fruit, coffee, toffee, some hints of burnt toast and overripe prunes. Generally medium to full body with a roasted malt and coffee finish.

Dark red porter with a thin, beige head. Aroma and flavor are on the sweet side with a dry roasted finish. Straight ahead, good porter.

On tap at the Yardhouse in Las Vegas. Poured a dark brown/black color with a thin brown head. The aroma was of roasted malt, brown sugar and molasses. The flavor was roasty, with coffee and chocolate hints. This was full bodied and softly carbonated, with a creamy mouthfeel.

courtesy of googzoid10 for another OR beer. Pours black with tan head. Aroma of light roasted malts and molasses. Taste, same as aroma with added coffee and nutty notes. Finish is of light bitter hops. Light and easy to drink, Deschutes offers yet another amazing beer.

Bottle. Aroma of coffee, chalky, roasted malt, raisins. Flavor forward with the coffee again but also has some chocolate. Finish is oddly sweet. Had its ups and downs.
