A nice quality porter...Pours very dark brown with some lighter brown and rubyish highlights. Three fingers of fairly soft, creamy tan head. Nose of milk chocolate, coffee and perhaps some dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is light-medium full, a touch on the thin side, fairly smooth with a light bit of oiliness. Broken, weepy thickish rings of lacing. Flavor is fairly rich and chocolatey - milk chocolate to be exact. More coffee emerges toward back end. Some noticeable grassiness in finish knocks the flavor experience down a bit. A light-medium bitter bite in finish

One of the very best products from Deschutes Brewery. Have had this on tap and from the bottle. My 3.6 is for the bottle, 3.9 for the draft version. Nice malty chocolate coffee flavor with sufficient hops to keep it from being overly sweet. Best served cool not cold and the flavors just get better as it warms. No better porter in my estimation.

Has a black color with a quickly fading tan head. Slight aroma of chocolate malts. Light to medium bodied and softly carbonated. Taste is nutty with roasted malts. Finishes mildly bitter. Mildly flavored, this would be a good brew to introduce someone to the porter and stout styles.2005

Great roasted nut aroma. Smooth drinkable flavor, but a wee bit more body wouldn’t hurt it. Nice roasted malt aftertaste.

Pours a deep black into the glass with a tan head. Really rich aroma of sweetness and burnt grain. The flavor was really wonderful as well with lots of chocolaty/coffee undertones. A nice winter warmer.

Pours deep dark opaque brown with a little ruby when held to a strong light. Nice chocolate milk head that dies down and laces. Smells a mild sweet malt with toasted nuts and a hint of hops. Tastes of malt, mild coffee and a slight bitterness of hops. Mouth feel is smoooth. Zero alcohol. Almost a brown ale smooth with lively carbonation. This is an awesome session beer, especially for a porter.

Solid Porter. Bottle. Chocolate, roasted aroma. Smooth on the palate, clean-- slightly bitter finish.

I’m not sure how I haven’t rated this, but here goes: Bottled. Poured clear garnety-brown with a short, creamy cap of tan head. The aroma picked up roasted baker’s chocolate, molasses, and some herbal accents.. not overly complex, but dark and welcoming. The flavor had somewhat tacky roasted chocolate, coffee grounds, and molasses at the core with light, complimentary herbal bitterness and faint metallic notes on the edges.. sticky caramel and ever-so-slightly stale roasted chocolate on the finish. Medium-bodied with low-to-medium carbonation.. tacky, sweet finish. Solid brew.
