Aroma is fairly weak of coffee and roasted malts. Flavor is tame as well with some coffee like bitterness and chocolate malts. Palate a bit weak. Mouthfeel is fizzy and a bit thin. Nice aroma, mostly malt and chocolate, with a touch of smoke. Clean taste, not overwhelming, same as the nose, with chocolate, some molasses, smoke, all well balanced. Roasted coffee aroma with hints of caramel. A little flat and unmoving on the tongue. WIsh it was more creamy and not so light on the tongue. Too bouncy for what I was expecting. Beautiful flavor and aroma and even appearance but a let-down on the palate. It isn’t very rich or creamy - just smooth. BelgianBeerGal (1307), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 27, 2007 Bottled. Pours an opaque black with a thin, tan head that disolves quickly. Aroma is of dry, ground coffee. Taste was roasted malt and slight unsweet chocolate. Short, finish. Solid porter. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Dark ruby brown/almost black colored pour with a nice tan head. Smell was mild but nice and of dark roast malt. Taste was dark and roasty bordering burnt. Mouthfeel was a bit too light, but was nicely carbonated. Could stand to be a touch thicker, and bolder, but still a nice roasty taste and a decent easy drinking porter JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 24, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a thin dense dark tan head. Mild sweet roast aroma - light-bodied, lightly carbonated. Moderate bitter roast flavor with a mild finish. Not overwhelming on any sensory level, but a decent porter. Still, this was disappointing coming from Deschutes. Want to try on tap. DarkMagus (433), San Jose, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 20, 2007 Pours a very dark coffee-brown color with an off-white head. Nice rich coffee-like, chocolatey, smokey, woody aroma. Really nice full range of flavors including lots of coffee, chocolate, dark roasted malts, burnt toast, some bitterness, and a bit of a sugary fruitiness. Great stuff. Nicely full-bodied with a bit of a syrupy texture. I bought this randomly, just saw it in a store... glad I took the chance on this one, I’ll definitely look for it again!
