Dark beer with a small head. Very sweet smell. Goes down light for a porter. Would buy again.

Smells like molasses and sour malt. Pours black with a small foamy brown head. malts and hops dominate the flavor, with hints of coffee. And when I say coffee, I mean sour old coffee that has been burning on the bottom of the pot for at least an hour. By the time I got to the bottom of my glass, the sourness got the best of me. Dry but oily finish. This one goes well with a grilled cheese sandwich.

Re-rated 5/10/2008: I tried this again, and liked it better this time. It didn’t have that sour, old coffee taste that I described above. It had a nice robust chocolate flavor with some fruit. Increased my rating from 3.1 to 3.9.

when poured, not much of a head. Strong aroma of chocolate and tofee. Has a very nutty flavor that is quite good.

Black/brown with a light brown, creamy head. The aroma has notes of chocolate and roasted malt, and the flavour is light with notes of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and a descent bitterness. The overall impression is on the light side - but nice! Thank you Tom/After4ever for this beer from my wishlist! 1925

On tap. Smells roasty, nothing outstanding. Tastes nutty with chocolate. Thin.

Bottle. A nice beer. I used to love this one, but I think my tastes have changed. A little too light and watered-down for my current taste.

From the bottle - dark with tiny bubbles. Chocolate malt flavors, dry finish and nicely bitter. I expected a bit more malt, however, judging from the appearance.

This is the reason microbreweries suck these days, and I run back to macros. It’s a nice package: taste, flavor, dark, malty etc. The 5.2% is a lie. I’m drinking this for the second time as a gift for dog-sitting this weekend. Porter? I’ve had macro lagers darker and better. There is truly no/minimal alcohol in this beer. Packs no punch. A big tease. This is trophy/impress-your-friends beer. You won’t get a buzz.
