12 oz. bottle, courtesy of MaltOMeal. Dark black pour with a medium sized, light tan head. Roasted malt aroma with some cocoa. Flavor is a bit muted, with notes of chocolate, licorice, and some hops. Finish is a bit creamy and bitter. Good beer.

Dec 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Sweet malty aroma and flavour, underlying roast, chocolate and licorice. Softly carbonated and more sweetness in the finish. I dunno what it is about this one but something just lacks the balance to make this more enjoyable than it should be.

Dec 11, 2009 Lovely aroma of roasted chocolate and caramel. Pours a beautiful deep ruby, almost black, with a substantial mocha head. Taste is more of the slightly sweet roasted chocolate and perhaps some espresso. Loses points on the palate for being rather light and thin for a porter. Carbonation is fizzy on the tongue where it should be soft and creamy. Overall this is a quality porter that is indeed "rich and approachable".

Dec 8, 2009 I’m not as fond of this as my other go-to pub brew, Stone Pale Ale, but I do love this quaffer. Packs a lot of flavor for a standard ABV beer. Subtle nose. Mocha, fresh baked bread and wilderness on the palate. A beaut!

Nov 30, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark black color with a large, fluffy, tan head that slowly fades. Taste is of roasted malt, smoke, chocolate, coffee and some caramel. A little bitter and slightly thin. Similar aroma. Easy to drink and enjoyable. Not bad, but not great either.

Nov 30, 2009 Pours deep brown, great head retention though it stays low. Leaves light lacy patterns. Subtle malt aroma. Kind of fruity with a light hint of coffee. Slight bitterness at the end, back of tongue. Low carbonation with a good amount of mouthfeel.

Thin mild lace fizzy espresso head.Clear dark black color with bronze edge.No sediment.Lightly toasted mild hop dark fruit front.Mild texture soft doughy mild sweet light toasted chocolate crystal malt crisp porter body.Mild hop spice clean Session end.Well made soothing satisfying brew, but not exceptional.

Nov 17, 2009 Mahogany pour produces a decent caramel colored head. Lots of cocoa, coffee, and even a hint of vanilla in this one. Not bad for a sessionable porter. Medium to light mouthfeel.
