| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 19, 2009 I really like this porter and bought a 1/6 barrel of it. I also tasted it side by side with Fuller’s London Porter, and while both porters tasted different, they were both great beers and I would have a tough time choosing one over the other. This beer is very dark with a light tan head. The taste floods you with bitter chocolate and coffee, and most of the finish is a bit of coffee flavor. The head lasts throughout the glass, and the beer feels thick in the mouth. I highly recommend this one. dkachur (2407), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 17, 2009 12 ounce bottle courtesy of Sparky27. Thanks! Rating #2400. POLKA!!! Pours a dark cola brown color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts with coffee and faint chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, bitter leafy hops. Smooth, creamy, medium bodied. Very drinkable. Nice beer. nate2g (1095), Brisbane, Australia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Sweet malty aroma and flavour, underlying roast, chocolate and licorice. Softly carbonated and more sweetness in the finish. I dunno what it is about this one but something just lacks the balance to make this more enjoyable than it should be. exparte (21), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Lovely aroma of roasted chocolate and caramel. Pours a beautiful deep ruby, almost black, with a substantial mocha head. Taste is more of the slightly sweet roasted chocolate and perhaps some espresso. Loses points on the palate for being rather light and thin for a porter. Carbonation is fizzy on the tongue where it should be soft and creamy. Overall this is a quality porter that is indeed "rich and approachable". mcbeyond (20), Newport Beach, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 8, 2009 I’m not as fond of this as my other go-to pub brew, Stone Pale Ale, but I do love this quaffer. Packs a lot of flavor for a standard ABV beer. Subtle nose. Mocha, fresh baked bread and wilderness on the palate. A beaut! scooterbub (382), Lander, Wyoming, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark black color with a large, fluffy, tan head that slowly fades. Taste is of roasted malt, smoke, chocolate, coffee and some caramel. A little bitter and slightly thin. Similar aroma. Easy to drink and enjoyable. Not bad, but not great either. Subtle malt aroma. Kind of fruity with a light hint of coffee. Slight bitterness at the end, back of tongue. Low carbonation with a good amount of mouthfeel. philbertk (75), Seattle, Washington, USA
