Pours deep dark opaque brown with a little ruby when held to a strong light. Nice chocolate milk head that dies down and laces. Smells a mild sweet malt with toasted nuts and a hint of hops. Tastes of malt, mild coffee and a slight bitterness of hops. Mouth feel is smoooth. Zero alcohol. Almost a brown ale smooth with lively carbonation. This is an awesome session beer, especially for a porter.

Sep 28, 2008 on tap from the deschutes bar in portland. dark brown pour with a hint of red. sweet aroma of toasty malts, chocolate and coffee. flavor follows suit. better as it warms. liked this a lot. K-8

Sep 27, 2008 Pours black with a tan head. Very heavy carbonation. Aroma is of malt, caramel, and dark fruit. Creamy mouthfeel. Doesn’t taste much like a porter. It’s very sweet with hints of fruit and caramel malts. Lingering taste of weak coffee. Very drinkable, and worth drinking again.

Sep 26, 2008 Great smoky and chocolate taste. By fare and away one of the best beers from Deshutes, and best porter for the price. Only a moderate ABV, but full bodied and substantial.
