bradlyc77 (226), Sebastopol, California, USA Sep 28, 2008 Chocolate is very present with hints of coffee and smoke in the background. Sweet/malty aroma with bourbon flavor. A welcome take on the Black Butte porter, a very hearty beer indeed. MatSciGuy (629), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Sep 27, 2008 [Bottle] Shared by Skyview. Aroma is bittersweet chocolate, coffee, and a touch of bourbon. Not an overpowering bourbon flavor. Nice and dry with a roasty coffee finish. jcdsmack (88), Henderson, Nevada, USA Sep 25, 2008 Wow is this chocolatey or what? This beer pours black with a brown head. The aroma is of chocolate and coffee. The taste is chocolate and coffee I wont lie it’s alittle bit like drinking a mocha esspresso. Nice sweet malty flavor definitely improves as temperature raises. I like it it’s good, but I would reccomend splitting it with a friend because it is extremely rich and sweet. 22oz btl cost me $13 so it’s not cheap, but nice maybe for desert with some friends. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 25, 2008 Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Very black, small beige head. Tarry licorice aroma. Fairly sweet with dense compact mouthfeel. Lots of chocoalte and asphalt covered in molasses. Long salty woody bitterness with some burning sweetness. ManvsCity (88), Redmond, Washington, USA Sep 24, 2008 Bomber. Whispy tan head makes a fractal starfish pattern across the top of my glass.Oak and leather, dried fruit and smoke. Deep rich back of the throat flavor and tingly tongue action. Much easier drink than a stout. Fresh and well balanced. dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 22, 2008 Bottle courtesy Belgianbeergal. Thick oily black pour with a dark tan head.. Chocolate malt, vanilla, oak and hints of bourbon make up the aroma. Chocolate malt, vanilla, coffee, bourbon taste that is big and chewy, easy to savor. Very complex and makes you want to sit and sip to get all of the flavor and how they blend together. An awesome beer. brentfeesh (1030), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Sep 22, 2008 22oz bottle. Enjoyed at the cabin with Scott and John. A very dark pour, as you might expect. Off white brown head. The aroma has a touch of wood & bourbon as well as coffee and malty roasted grains. The flavor is creamy coffee, bourbon, vanilla with wood notes and semi-sweet chocolate. Very pleasing. Creamy smooth mouth feel with a bit of semi-dry finish that seems related to the semi-dry chocolate more than anything. Very enjoyable. Glad I have a second bottle. miketd (679), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Sep 21, 2008 Bonus bottle from WeeHeavySD...thanks!! Pour is black with a tiny beige head. Aroma is coco, chocolate, caramel and slight boozy. Flavor is nice roasty malts and bitter chocolate. Very nice and creamy. Medium bodied. Very good brewski.
