Alcohol, chocolate and coffee. Pour was a nice near black with a one finger tan head. Now after seeing this I thought this was going to taste like the typical boozy impy stout. I was wrong. Strong coffee, mocha and dark chocolate fill the mouth. The earth and wood come out as it warms. There is a hint of bournon in the aftertaste but it is not overpowering as most are. Nice mix of bitterness and sweetness with the alcohol being hidden well. Beerlando (2313), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 12, 2008 Courtesy growler. An extremely dark, mahogany brown body is capped with a tight head of frothy, cream colored foam. Spotty lacing marks the glass. The aroma shows bitter, dark chocolate, espresso, mocha, and cream as the primary elements. Earthy hops lend further bitterness to the coffee notes, while a subtle kiss of bourbon permeates the entire brew. Flavors follow suit, showing big time roasty coffee and dark chocolate notes, as well as caramel sweetness. Creamy vanilla and subtle bourbon lend smoothness and depth, respectively. The palate is medium-full, silky, and sweet. This is another great brew from Deschutes. Reminds me alot of Tyranena’s Devil Over A Barrel. Haslinger (644), Syracuse, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 12, 2008 bottle from kegbear, what a perfect beer to celebrate me 21st birthday. Aroma is chocolate almost fruity tasting. The bourbon comes through in the taste and is just incredible. So tasty. The alcohol is also evident but in a good way. Would buy again in a heartbeat NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 12, 2008 Courtesy of Gilliard. The aroma is comprised of chocolate, molasses, toasted and roasted malts with strong hints of cooked dark fruits. The flavor side of things is similar but with tons of coffee. Very solid mouth feel. Extra long finish. Quite tasty. HughConway (367), Washington, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Bottle from Marcus (thanks!). Black color with a good tan head. Smells like coffee on steroids, accompanied by chocolate. Full bodied, almost oily, with chewy, creamy carbonation. Coats the mouth. Flavor is bitter toast, coffee and chocolate. Astringent. No scimping on this recipe. Finishes deadly tasty. Must be the nibs. gingerspice111 (1), Carlsbad, California, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 11, 2008 This beer makes me fall in love with heavy dark beers all over again. Deep chocolate finish with rich coffee hints. I want to drink this beer all winter long. I would drink this as a after dinner or dessert beer. I may be just a girl, but I can tell an awesome beer when I taste one. mcbackus (740), Merritt Island, Florida, USA
