Nose has a bit of oak, vanilla, coffee--very dry. Flavor is similar with a bit of dark fruits, light bourbon, chocolate, more coffee and wood. Headbanger (1601), Aurora, Illinois, USA

Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. Taste of the same with bit of bourbon coming in the middle and it finishes with a dryness. A nice tasting Imp Porter but not as good as Tyranena IMO. hellbilly (1566), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 4, 2008 Bottle Pours a nearly opaque black with avery nice bronze/brown head that is dense and lasting. Big aroma of chocolate, pitted fruits or grapes, a little coffee, anice, and some spices like maybe cinnomin. A slight fumey alcohol note as well. Flavor is light roastedand chocolately. The bourbon is not over powering and is a nice compliment to the hefty ABV. Palatte is light and a bit thin but extremely soft and smooth. The carbonation is just right. A bit of the alcohol burn on re-entry. Lingering late bitterness. I have seen this on tap at the BP a few times and had hoped it wold make it to bottles. It did not dissapoint yobdoog (1543), Woodridge NY, New York, USA

Aroma of truffles, cherries, and chocolate torte with a cherry filling. Flavor is not as luscious as the aroma, lots of chocolate, raspberry, and rich roasted malt. Thankfully, no overt alcohol presence. The bourbon is quite mellow and I did not detect any in the flavor. Very nice, quite drinkable too. I really enjoyed this one.

Alcohol, light roast, coffee, some oxidation, caramel, roast on aroma. Taste had a sharp alcohol edge to it, kind of out-muscled the roast characters. Kind of all over the place. 17thfloor (1511), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Pours a obsidian color with a cola like fizzy beige head. Balance aroma of coffee, slightly sweet, faded floral hops, charcoal, some molasses and dark chocolate. Wow, lovely flavor sans the oxidized hops, very much like a traditional ale, sweet and slightly tangy over a dull black oily base 8.5. Upfront fruitiness, maybe maraschino cherries, super smooth slightly creamy but mostly oily, tons of Hershey’s syrup, lesser coffee beans. I really like it, slightly tart. Oily and creamy, very smooth, fizzy carbonation, quite De Molen-esque. The bourbon and woodiness lingers in the aftertaste, bitter chocolate. I really enjoy this and beers similar such as Black Jack.
