Sep 15, 2008 Updated: Aug 7, 20092008 bottle. This dark brown ale poured with a bubbly tan head and a chocolate aroma. There is an intense chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with an alcohol trailer that remains on the palate for a while. Very, very tasty.

Aug 5, 2008 Poured black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and bourbon... predictable, but good. The flavor follows, somewhat sweet with some coffee, lots of buttery bourbon, and some notes of bittersweet dark chocolate. The only real surprise from this beer is the aggressive carbonation... I would have preferred a chewier body. Well-made beer, not many surprises, good.

Oct 11, 2008 Pours black with a creamy brown head, Pleasant chocolate, vanilla, leather, caramel aroma. Big smooth body. Flavors of coffee, cocoa and vanilla. Has a nice acrid edge. Relatively low but lingering bitterness and mellow hop flavor. Quite good overall but a touch disjointed.

Sep 9, 2008 Shared by bleeng at the September Houston Tasting. Dark chocolate pour with a one finger head that’s the color of dark mocha. Nose of coffee and roasted beans with a bit of tang. Flavor is roasted coffee, ash, pitted fruits and a touch of hops. This beer will age and open nicely.

Jul 8, 2008 Sampled at Bocky Bash on 7-5-08. Roasted coffee aroma stood out. Black body with tan head. Roasted coffee and coco flavors with a creamy body texture. Smooth considering the alcohol content. Good brew thanks Dave.

Aug 4, 2008 Much thanks to kmweaver for sharing this one at BCTC and making it a point for me to have a chance to try this one. Pours a deep black with a medium creamy tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, sweet caramel notes, some light coffee and some hops were still there, some vanilla and oak as well. Flavor of coffee, dark fruits, a little on the sweet side, dark chocolate, some chewy hops and light bourbon.

Sep 20, 2009 Wow - a wonderfully black rich porter. Loads of coffee, chocolate, charred wood, and alcohol. Very sippable, just a lovely enjoyable beer.

Dec 6, 2008 Bottle LCRBM08. Literally black, no head to speak of. Leather, dried fruits and sweet caramel in the nose. Full bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied. Caramel, coffee and leather in the lingering bitter finish. Very well made brew........
