Black color, with generous brown creamy head. Strange brew, with flavors of coffee, medicines, liquorice, but all together rather interesting. The body is quite strong and with some sweetness; the final quite balanced and without the ashtray feeling of many Imperial Stouts. Pleasant.

Jul 28, 2008 Bottle thanks to Flacoalto. Pours a deep amber brown with a small tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, smoky, roast, cocoa, malt and a weird musty basement smell. Flavor is smoky, alcohol, cocoa and light fruit. Finishes silky smooth with just a touch of alcohol. Medium-full body, smooth texture.

Oct 26, 2008 Bottle @ LCRBM 2008. Licorice, salt, butter and coffee in the aroma. Roast, coffee, plums in the sugary sweet flavor. Very nice, surprisingly drinkable beer.

Sep 21, 2008 Updated: Sep 30, 2008Bottle... Post RBSG ’08 O-Town/Vero Beach Throwdown Chapter 8... Pours very dark brown with a large, tight, khaki head. Great retention. The rich mocha nose displays a touch more espresso and cream than chocolate. Suggestions of vanilla and sourmash also ascend from my glass. Full-bodied with a velvety-smooth mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The flavor mirrors the aroma, but also provides wonderful gobs of caramel. Finishes smooth and rich. Thanks to growler for providing this terrific bottle of beer!

Jan 12, 2009 Bottle@LCRBM08. Atoma has some wood, chocolate, bourbon, roast. Black coloured beer with a thin lacing. The taste is sweet, has licorice, coffee, chocolate, some vanilla. Ending more and more hopbitter. Good beer.

Apparence: La couleur est noire opaque. Présence d’une mince col beige mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de chocolat et de café torréfié avec une pointe de vanille et d’alcool. Longue durée de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement onctueuse. Aug 16, 2008 Updated: Jul 12, 200922oz bottle, XX. Interesting nose of dark chocolate syrup and fruity black cherry and plum notes, some sherry, and some sweet brandy-like chocolate liqueur notes. Flavor at first is sort of pasty, but quickly turns more sweet and syrupy like chocolate ice-cream topping... some sweet alcohol notes and more of that sherry and brandy character comes through. I actually really like this, and I’m not exactly sure why, but the liqueur chocolate and dessert-like sweetness is pretty easy to like.

Aug 27, 2008 Bottle and served in my Expedition snifter: Deep brown with ruby highlight, soft creamy tan head left very good lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of bourbon barrel (vanilla, oak, apricot, and booze) along with chocolate, roasted malt, walnut, and some espresso esters. The taste starts malty sweet and hints of dark fruits. Midsection displays some nutty notes along with chocolate. The finish is smoky (charred) and is where you can find the barrel influence more. The mouth feel is medium-bodied, not to hot but you do get the booze after awhile. All in all this is a solid STRONG / IMPERIAL/ ROBUST PORTER!
