Commercial Description:
Our Bock is brewed following the German Bock tradition. The use of German, British and domestic malts, a German Lager Yeast, as well as Nobel hop varieties, predominately Saaz & Sterling, create a traditional Bock. Lagered for 8 weeks, this bock is smooth with a nice creamy head, a malty sweet body and slight hop finish. March/April - now in 22oz bottles.

On Tap: Quite a pleasant toasty, bready and pretty malty nose; clean, silky mouthfeel with smooth and assertive, clean, and sweet munich maltiness; somewhat bitter, spicy finish. Very nice and not too sweet or chewy for the style.

Pours quite heavy and almost black. Mild, roasty aroma. Flavor seemed a little aleish for a bock - some alcohol and yeasty flavor detracted from the malt. A good beer in any case with a rich, chewy body.

Bottle: Pours a dark ruby ebony color with thin head and nice tan retentive lacing. The nose is full of plum, fig and rich dark malts, light alcohol and a bit of cherry. The flavor is rich and full bodied with a smooth malty mouthfeel. Balanced creamy tail. A touch of roast in the finish along with a raisinette type thing. Excellent bock, pronounced yet very drinkable. I wouldn’t call it a homerun, but it’s certainly a triple.

Bottle Clear brown color withnot much of a head. The aroma is dominated by sweetness - perhaps brown shugga, fresh baked cookies and snickerdoodle flavored coffee beans. I didn’t expect as much carbonation as is in it. The flavors are sweet but it quickly shifts gears to a strange (hops?) aftertaste that is sort of metallic, like I feel when I drink Coke (which isn’t very often). Overall, its a pretty good brew, but a little too sweet for my average beer of choice. But having said that - it’s hard to find a bad cup o’ suds from Deschutes!

Bottle Pours a nice clear deep mahogany with a small thin off white head. The coarse bubbles do not lend to very good lacing. Very nice aromas of sweet woody malts, with maple, brown sugar, apples and molassas. Flavor is woody, earthy and slightly metallic. A bit like sucking on a penny. I like the other flavors however and this dowes not detract. Like a lager, the feel is a bit thin, and the carbonation is soft. Nice flavors all around and rather sweet and lightly hopped. Suprised by the ABV, hidden well. Nice.

Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, and light spices. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of mellow malt, a hint of carmel and some faint spices with a smooth finish. This was a bit of a dissapointment after the last few Bond St beers.

Pours a dark brown color with ruby undertones and a large beige head. The nose is weak with faint caramel and nutty malt aromas coming thru. Easy to drink, medium bodied, dry, with a hint of crispiness to it’s body. Malt flavors abound - with toasted malt, carmel, and nuts, and a faint hint of hops in the background.

From a 22 oz. brown bomber bottle with a blurb about the bock across the top of label, no bottled/freshness date. Made a very good appearance, poured a clear ruby hued cola brown with a large fluffy beige/off-white head that settled into a thin creamy lacing with a small amount of sticking, decent carbonation. Had a toasted malty and fruity yeast nose with a little earthiness and light spicy hoppiness at the edges. A crisp, slick and smooth medium bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. Toasted and caramelized malty taste, a subtle sweet fruity yeastiness, a good crispiness from the malts, a lightly spicy and herbal hoppiness towards the end, biting in it’s bitterness and a dryish sweet yeasty and toasted malty finish. A nicely crisp and tasty bock from Deschutes, part of the 22 oz. Bond Street series, if you like bocks, a recommended try.
