| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 30, 2006 Beer looks lovely. It pours a clear, dark ruby-brown color with a large, frothy, off-white, lasting head.
The aroma is not as fetching, it’s actually pretty shy. Malty with only minimal trace notes of toasted grain; yeasty with moderate notes of dough, trace note of sharp cheese;
Flavor isn’t a lot more forthcoming. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic with a long, moderately acidic/tangy, lightly bitter, moderately sweet finish. Bit of a huskiness in the aftertaste.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively. Ernest (4499), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 30, 2006 Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark reddish-amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted bread, nuts), trace/lightly hoppy (apricot), lightly yeasty (dough).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Pity the aroma is so minimal, as the flavor balance is nice. Aubrey (2777), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 27, 2006 Clear burgundy. Smooth and consistent mouthfeel. At first I didn’t think much ... but man, swish it around in the mouth a little and it thickens into a creamy cement of mouth love. Truly amazing. Chewy malts had a complex mellowness, with chocolate, nuts, caramel and toast. Hop addition was nice and balanced. Hints of citrus (orange) and wild flowers. Rock solid bock. talon1117 (627), Bellvue, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 25, 2006 Updated: May 3, 2006Deep ruby in color with clarity; decent tan head that’s almost pillowy with some longevity. Nose is faint and intriguing, nutty, chocolate, toffee, and fruity. Flavor remains fruity(maybe raisin-like) with loads of a chocolate/toffee, toasty malty flavor and a dry, nuttiness. Finishes abruptly and dry with almost a smokey sourness. (a little strange, but not unpleasent) Palate is clean and lively with a creamy, medium body. Very different from any German bock or doppelbock that I’ve had, but sharing characteristics from both. The more I drank, the more I started to like it. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

Body is a nice dark clear reddish brown. Light caramel, nuttiness in aroma. Taste is much bolder- nutty, dry, grainy with nice earthy and spicy undertones. Almost sour, smokey at times. Fairly light mouthfeel. Hearty and unique. 5000 (2540), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 17, 2006 Bottle: Deep ruby, moderate light beige head, spotty lacing. Caramel nose, slight biscuit, soft moldy cheese, otherwise seems fairly malty. Quite malty on the tongue, remains biscuity, somewhat nutty, very little hop presense if at all. Clean, easy drinking, my kind of bock! Moderate body and mouthfeel. Does fall somewhat flat on the finish, malt character and flavors are muted. Not as chewy as other examples. A lighter example, but still quite enjoyable.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 15, 2006 Brown beer with dark reddish hints,lovelly thick and creamy tan head tops it off.
A fine malty lager aroma, slightly caramel with slight graininess.
In taste this is strongly malt driven, a robust toasty maltiness hits the taste buds first then a grainy flavour( not unpleasant) then a small burp of hops at the end..nice.
Quite nice on the palate, medium thick with a good lingering aftertaste.
I liked this one quite a bit, sort of like a dopplebock "lite", real easy to drink.
