Pours hazy deep, deep brown, with a 1-finger tan head. Fantastic appearance on this one! The aroma is huge Wheaties, with some brown sugar. Very similar to the Celebrator aroma. Tastes like liquified Wheaties, with brown sugar notes, and some slight almond, hop, and caro syrup hints. Fairly thick palate that is balanced and complex. In my mind, this is a top tier bock beer. It went well with a hunk of aged cheddar and a piece of hard bread. mobrew (19), Oregon, USA

To bad they don’t bottle this one, I think it would sell very well. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA

I am new to the world of ’good’ beer, will never be able to drink typical US macro-swill again. Pours a dark clear reddish brown with a nice head. Very little lace. Floral somewhat yeasty aroma. This is a wonderful beer, and while I do not know if it is what a ’bock’ should be, it is the best beer I have ever had. Very complex, very malty but well balanced, there is a nice subtle hoppy finish, but smooth. Subtle chocolate, subtle caramel, mollasses, prune?..there is a lot underlying here, and it is all wonderful!************
Rerate 8/12/2006-ok 50 some craft brews later. I am trying this again. I still agree with my previous rating, the only thing to add is that this REALLY comes alive if you let it warm up to 55-60 degrees! It brings more of the fruity notes out and leaves a mild bit of berry like alcohol flavor in the finish. Nice. Aubrey (2778), Denver, Colorado, USA

At first I didn’t think much ... but man, swish it around in the mouth a little and it thickens into a creamy cement of mouth love. Truly amazing. Chewy malts had a complex mellowness, with chocolate, nuts, caramel and toast. Hop addition was nice and balanced. Hints of citrus (orange) and wild flowers. Rock solid bock. Pours a deep brown with lots of ruby red highlights. Aroma of sweet malty grains, dark fruits, candy sweetness, toast malts, some nuts. Flavor of toasted malts, grains, sweet maltiness, vanilla, nuts, dark fruits. Very nice bock. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2006 Bottle: Pours a dark ruby ebony color with thin head and nice tan retentive lacing. The nose is full of plum, fig and rich dark malts, light alcohol and a bit of cherry. The flavor is rich and full bodied with a smooth malty mouthfeel. Balanced creamy tail. A touch of roast in the finish along with a raisinette type thing. Excellent bock, pronounced yet very drinkable. I wouldn’t call it a homerun, but it’s certainly a triple.
