Pours a maple syrup brown, with a generous beige head that leaves thick lace. Roasty malts dominate aroma with tart berry notes, some nuttiness and light floral hops. Congruent with the nose, the flavor is roasty with bitter black tea, unsweetened chocolate, lightly bright hops and a bit of a metallic note in the finish. Medium body and gentle carbonation. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 20, 2007 The beer departs the 12 ounce bottle a bemused brown with ruby highlights, the head forms a decent pile on top the body, creamy and light tan in color as it fades away, and the lacing forms a concealing sheet upon the glass. Nose is somewhat sweet with a splash of hop floral spiciness, caramel also present, nice crispness. Start has a light to moderate malt sweetness, the hops present, and the top light to medium in feel. Finish has a pleasant acidity, the hops mild but pleasing to the palate, dry aftertaste, a bit light on the body, but a nice refreshing beer to please the palate. buddahmind (39), Boise, Idaho, USA
