clear dark amber, scant off white head, dry chocolate aroma with a nutty character, dry chocolate flavor, touch of nuttyness, follows aroma very well, lasting bitterness, just a hint of caramel sweetness in the end, easy drinking but not too exciting

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2007 From a 12-ounce brown bottle. Pours a deep amber color with rich tan head. Full mouthfeel with initial hop bitterness and solid malty flavor. Very nice body. Slightly dry overall flavor balance. Clean finish. Nice blend of flavors. yesyouam (602), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2007 Buzzsaw Brown is a deep tobacco sunburst, sparkling, with a nice creamy khaki head that has great retention and lacing. The aroma has coffee, chocolate and a dark malt flavor that comes off as a bit sour. In the mouth, it’s medium-light, smooth and crisp. The flavor is chocolaty and sort of like cookies, but not sweet. There is a very mild bitterness that leans toward citrus. Most brown ales just leave me wanting a porter, but this one is good on it’s own right. Well done. emobassfoo (178), Webster, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2007 Rated while drinking: Pours a hazy amber with a small off-white head. Smells of wood, malt and almost a sweaty scent. Flavor is malty backbone, nuts and some sort of mint or herb near the back of the flavor. Palate is quite smooth, but has a tiny bit of astringency in there. Pretty tasty; I’ll definitely try it again. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 16, 2007 Pours to a brassy mahogany body with a tall frothy light khaki head. Nice lacing. The aroma is hugely soapy hops and soapy malts. Not a fan of that. The flavor is simple iced tea malts and lightly soapy malts and hops. Lightly spiced with herbal hops. I’d drink it if there is nothing better. Not bad, just not interesting at all. marcus (1896), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 7, 2007 On tap at Vino’s in Roseville, CA. This dark brown ale poured with a decent off-white head. The flavor is slightly flat, but it is fortified with plenty of roasted malt. There is a slightly bitter finish. Overall, a very drinkable brown ale.
