Hazy orange-brown, moderate, somewhat coarse heads that sticks around awhile. Aroma is simple yet appealing: light crystal malt with a subtle dose of earthy roasted grain and toast. Aroma hops are faint and slightly woodsy. Flavor is moderately sweet with a little bit of chocolate and with lots of somewhat thinned-out roasty flavors. Some light floral notes evolve in the hop profile. This finishes up with substantial bitterness despite the claim of a light hop profile; I find that this clashes a bit with the noncommittal roastiness. A bit more carbonation than I would pick. Overall, quite serviceable, but not inspiring. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA

Pours a clear, coppery amber with a off-white head that leaves fat concentric rings of lace. Brown sugar and caramel aroma backed by a hint of citrus hops. Creamy medium-light body and moderate carbonation. Taste of caramel and brown sugar and nutty malt. A bit of bitterness shows up in the finish, more to the floral end of the hop spectrum, with an almost metallic edge to it. Not my fave from Deschutes. DYCSoccer17 (2192), Davis, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 13, 2007 12 ounce bottle from a 6 pack purchased at Nugget on Covell in Davis, CA. Very pleasant aroma with notes of sweet brown-sugary molasses along with some chocolate milk-like tones. There is also a light, herbal hoppiness present, too. Quaffable. Transparent orangey-amber body present with an off-yellowish/golden head. Lightly sweet, malty, caramelly start. Some fair roasted maltiness is located in the middle. Finishes with a nice metallic/herbal bitter hoppiness. The body is rather full and creamy, which makes this quite drinkable and above average for a brown ale. truegen (164), Puyallup, Washington, USA

I struggled to pick up much of a nose. Flavor tends toward butterscotch/brown sugar, and a good hp tang on the center of the tongue. Not a huge brown ale fan, but this is pretty quaffable. The lighter alcohol content makes a good change coming out of winter warmer season. drewbeerme (2282), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Sweet toasty malts up front, kinda caramel and molasses taste mixed with cereal. Finish was lightly hopped leaving it slightly sweet on the palate after. Medium body and fairly smooth.
