Blind rating, bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, light brown, fully diminishing. Body is dark amber to medium brown. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (roasted nuts, caramel, grain/cereal), lightly hoppy (resin), with a light note of bubble gum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Surprisingly bad, very crude and raw. Couldn’t believe this was Deschutes.

Great brown ale, very well-balanced and low alcohol content make for a great session beer. Deschutes has another success.

Pours medium brown with a thin white head. Smells malty of caramel and maple. Slight piney hop taste but maple is most prominent flavor with some caramel flavor. Aftertaste coats the mouth slightly with a light maple taste to it with no harsh tastes but shortly lived.

A good Brown Ale. Simialr to Moose Drool but not as heavy. Good carmel and malt flavors with a slight berry aftertaste. Flavor lasted after food and didn’t fill me up with dinner. Does Deschutes make a bad beer? I haven’t found one yet!!!

I thought this was great, one of the better beers put out by Deschutes. Aroma is great. Has a dark brown color and hints of chocolate and molasses really come through.

Bottle. Pours a deep roan color with a tan head. Nose is roasted coffee beans and caramel. Coffee continues throughout with some chocolate and sweet caramel. Thought the flavors remained even throughout, with the finish starting right where the beginning was. Thanks to wohlfs for the bottle.

Pours with a frothy, brownish tinged, tan colored head, that is initially about two-fingers thick. The beer sits a dark brown color in the glass, but shows a brilliant ruby-hued color when held up to the light. The aroma is a nice mix of malt and hops; notes of berries, toasted grain, and a hint of citrus. The aroma is quite fruity smelling and all in all it is quite nice.

The taste is initially sharp and bitter up front. It quickly moves to a toasted malty finish. As my palate get used to the hops, the fruit character from the aroma becomes noticeable. A nice berry like fruit character is here. The carbonation and hop character creates a tingly, sharp sensation upon the tongue. The toasted malt note adds a bit of chalkiness to the finish, which helps to buffer the fruit character found up front. This is a thoroughly enjoyable beer. I have been enjoying these for the last week and they are certainly a great drinking beer.
