Bottle: Amber colored pour with off white colored head. Fruity, roasted malts aroma. Toasted malts, caramel sweet flavor. This was pretty good.

Pours a clearish caramel brown color. Biggish off-white head, some lace. Subdued nose of crisp malts. Tastes crisp and malty, not too sweet, more grains. Some sweet caramel flavor. Thin to medium palate, crisp carbonation. Ehhh.

poured from 12oz. bottle into a pint glass, thanks to tayner for the trade (best by 8/30/07, so this is a bit old) A: Pours a very ruby/mahogany color, and is rather murky. Hundreds of tiny bubbles cling to the class and help produce a nice 1-finger off-white head, which diminishes fairly quickly but leaves a thin layer of foamy bubbles to stick around. Hardly any lacing to speak of. S: Immediate scents of dough, mild brown sugar, and roasted, biscuity malts come through; probably the older bottle, but I detect no hops at all. T/M: There is an initial snap of hops up front, but they quickly give way to a well-roasted & sweet maltiness in the middle, which in turn develops into a burnt baked goods finish. Beer is mildly drying and carbonated well for the style. D: I’d love to try this fresh, as I’m sure it’d make for a great sessionable ale, at <5% ABV.

Poured from the long neck 12 ounce bottle into a clear glass tumbler. Dark amber color with very small head. Good amount of lacings. Very slight hop bitterness but not bad. Nice roasted malt smooths out the bitterness somewhat. Not comparible to an English Brown Ale it is still a very good brew. Not really a session beer for me. More like one or two per night. Recommended.

Darker amber. Aroma is nutty with caramel, moderate to light hops. Fairly sweet for the style, some chocolate comes through as well.

Tastes like a brown ale. Refreshingly crisp but slightly bland. Tastes like a summer beer, which is odd considering it’s only available January through March.

Enjoyed from a 12oz. bottle--Poured a light to medium brown borderline amber body with a deep beige head. Roasted, nutty mild (for a NW brown) nose. Fair to midland plain yet had a bit of nice sweetness from choice malts and a tiny bite from the hops in the finish.

12 oz bottle, 6-pack from BevMo LaJolla. Pours a maple syrup brown, with a generous beige head that leaves thick lace. Roasty malts dominate aroma with tart berry notes, some nuttiness and light floral hops. Congruent with the nose, the flavor is roasty with bitter black tea, unsweetened chocolate, lightly bright hops and a bit of a metallic note in the finish. Medium body and gentle carbonation.
