Commercial Description:
A medium bodied amber ale, Cinder Cone Red has a rich malt flavor and red color derived from four kinds of caramel malt with a hint of dark roasted barley. Amarillo and Tettnang hops balance the toffee sweetness, creating a refreshing full hop flavor. Available January through June.

Light tan head, medium statured with excellent retention and a nice looking web like lacing. Amber orange in color with a light haze. Spicey hop nose with some gentle malt under tones. Body is almost medium though a tad watery, good carbonation. Light caramel malts and a touch bready with faint pine, citrus and grass notes, lightly fruity. Dry malt finish and a decent hop bite. A good entry level micro, not offensive at all. Props to SDbruboy for the bottles!

From the Northcoast Coop. 12 oz bottle. Poured a dark reddish amber wtih a moderate white head the left very nice lacing. Nose was citrus, floral hops, and caramel. Mouthfeel; was very pleasant and slightly crisp. Flavor was of malts, caramel, and some piney bitterness. Finish was nicely bitter. Good.

Bottle courtesy of FlacoAlto. Best before 05-06-05, has held up surprisingly well. Deep amber color with frothy 2 finger head. Aroma is well balanced caramel and pine bitters. Flavor much the same, malt dose up front, some roasted nuttiness through the middle, all is cleaned off the palate by the hop finish. Some residuel pine bitterness. Full bodied for the style. Highly sessionable amber, maybe even a decent crossover beer.

Bottle. Pours clear dark amber with a 2 finger foamy off-white head. The nose is malt and citrus hops. The taste is caramel, sweet citrus and some pine in the finish. Medium bodied. Not a bad Amber at all – nice and hoppy.

Very nice rust. Good start to the head- nice lace. Tiny bit of bread in the nose. Big hit of hops to start- became to predictable.

rich red copper colored and crystal clear. it’s topped by a thin whitish head that leaves a little bit of spotty lace. piney hops initially burn the nostrils along with some grapefruit. that gets mellowed out with some caramel graininess, butterscotch and earth. the flavor is pretty much the same... grapefruit skin, pine and some alcohol with a dry finish. it’s not really resinous or bitter... more like just the essence. kinda like being in the forest. medium to full bodied. the texture is a bit oily and creamy. a whole lot better than i was expecting!

Bottle Pours a reddish amber, with a nice frothey head and little clumpy lacing. Smells of bitter citrus and hopps. I taste the grapefruit as well and a healthy hop content. Full and busy, easy on the carbination, and a lingering slightly acidic trailer. If not for the slightly darker, maltier flavor, I’d mistake it for an IPA.
