Commercial Description:
A medium bodied amber ale, Cinder Cone Red has a rich malt flavor and red color derived from four kinds of caramel malt with a hint of dark roasted barley. Amarillo and Tettnang hops balance the toffee sweetness, creating a refreshing full hop flavor. Available January through June.

Bottle: red berries with a malt richness. Nice Amber Ale, good body and aroma. Food Pairing: White meats with red berries sauce; turkey.

From notes 12/29/2006. Pours a dark orange brown with a tan head. Heavy on the hops on the nose. Sweet, citrusy, and a slight touch of smoke. Also smells like chewed bubble gum. Flavor is heavy with hops, but lacking in elegance. Probably pushed just a bit too far I’d say. You get a slight punch in the mouth from the expected hop influece, but it isn’t rounded out at all. Feel is decent. Nice level of carbonation, but there is so much put into this one, that it makes it heavy and thick on the tongue. Drinkable, sure. It’s a pretty good brew (that is actually better when it is not cold).

A mild hop and tea aroma. Pours a medium/dark amber body with a rocky, off-white head. The flavor is carmel and toast with a hop finish that has a tea taste. Medium body. Would definately make a good session brew. Thanks Crosling!

I was unimpressed. Bottle from Morry’s of Naples. A large lead-up to this, and even loving all reds, I hated it. Very dry flavor with pungent hoppiness and bitter finish. No notes of fruit or sugar, nothing but a cold, sharp crack to the face. Pass.

Awesome. Pours a decent amber color with a thick off-white head. The aroma was a gorgeous sweet (sugar, toffee, caramel) grapefruity, citrusy character. The flavor was much of the same, but not nearly as bitter as the aroma would let you expect. Nice crisp, yet creamy feel. I am really impressed with this beer. I think it is a real standout among amber ales.

unsurprising hoppy aroma, orange/red tint, caramely and hoppy at the same time refreshing and crisp

Bottle. Pours a nice amber. Nice pointed hop to this one, malt backbone is very nice. Nice balance and an easy session drink.

Bottle. Poured deep red with a lasting thick white head. Floral hoppy aroma, with a touch of banana. Nice flavour, with toffee notes among the hoppiness. Lasting hop finish.
