Commercial Description:
A medium bodied amber ale, Cinder Cone Red has a rich malt flavor and red color derived from four kinds of caramel malt with a hint of dark roasted barley. Amarillo and Tettnang hops balance the toffee sweetness, creating a refreshing full hop flavor. Available January through June.

Thanks to Andre for this one. Pours amberish with a thin tan head. Smells hoppy with some sugary yogurt niotes. Tastes very hoppy with some very nice bitter elements. The amarillo and tettnang really shine in this one. Underneath, there’s a subtle malt profile with some basic fruity notes. Finish reminds me of sage. Great beer! Easily the best amber I’ve tasted.

Big sweet and woody hoppy aroma.. very nice. Flavor has some berries and wood, and is quite hopped. Tasty.

Nice looking topaz color with a rich looking cream colored head. Toasty malt with light honey aromas. HInts of light fruit. Flavors follow nicely with the aromas. A very enjoyable amber.

Dark redish amber, thick slow lacing. Yummy hoppy with slight alcohol aroma. Flavor is unbalanced, almost no malt flavors, spicey though. Palate is sweet and bitter, very decent. Refreshing alternative for ambers with a very modern twist.

Bottle. Beers of the World Live, NEC. Golden with a small head. Aromas are earthy and dry with biscuit malts. Spicy and herbal. Flavours are herbal, dry and woody with biscuit malts. Some citrus with a dry finish.

2006 bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, cookie, roasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, apricot, grapefruit), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of black tea, earth, redcurrant. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Quite interesting aroma for the style (and fairly easy-going hops, surprisingly). A little rough-edged in the mouth, but balanced well. Nice.

Rich aroma of citrus, arguably supported by malt. Coppery color with a vigorous and lasting tannish white head. Starts with a grapefruit sensation, followed by a hint of malt. The mouthfeel is medium. The bitterness goes on, and it is not overly strong. Just stronger than most anything I’ve had lately. This is really fantastic. An amber? Get out of town.

Noticeable hoppiness in nose and in fruity bitter finish taste. Nicely malted, nice looking red colour.I like Reds. Expiry date was an month ago, which means Liquid Solutions shipped rate at the cutoff date. Still as fresh tastings as reds I have had at brewpubs. A bit aggressive carbonation in this red and often in those.
