Another smooth entry - light bitterness with a peaty bite. It's a pleasant suprise and quite interesting- much different than most amber ales. asteele8 (270), Mukilteo, Washington, USA

Aroma is pretty malty with caramel, toffee, and roasted barley. Hints of hops are in the aroma as well. Flavor is hoppy at first with bites of citrus hitting the tongue. Caramel and toffee come in also giving the beer some sweetness. The beer finishes dry with caramel and toffee flavors. A good refreshing beer that makes it a very drinkable beer. The name of the beer does it right. biermonk (259), San Francisco, California, USA

At first I thought the bitterness was a bit overpowering, but it recedes quickly leaving a nice, smooth finish. I enjoyed this beer a lot more than I thought I would. wulfhere (217), Billings, Montana, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 25, 2003 I had this on tap at the local brew festival--'03. The Cindercone was the talk of the show.
Red amber with a decent head--small, fine bubbles that left quantities of lace behind.
The taste is hard to describe--it's very different from almost anything I've had.
Rich malt body with complex sweetness, but a massive hop presence that just makes your taste buds tingle. It's a very bold beer, and not for everyone, but that said. This was my favorite domestic beer of 2003--It's impressive
