Commercial Description:
A medium bodied amber ale, Cinder Cone Red has a rich malt flavor and red color derived from four kinds of caramel malt with a hint of dark roasted barley. Amarillo and Tettnang hops balance the toffee sweetness, creating a refreshing full hop flavor. Available January through June.

I had this at a tasting at Bevmo. This is one of the best amber ales I’ve ever had. It has a nice balance of flavor between hops & malt. The nose isn’t too big, but this is a great session brew.

ON tap at the Portland location. Color was auburn. Aroma of red malt, yeast and earthy notes. Flavor was a little bit disappointing for me, as it was a little bit blanc. Slightly sweet with the same components as the aroma.

Appearance: clear, reddish countenace, with a perfunctory head atop. Aroma: nice, wafting it’s particular scent from first crack of the cap, spicy, fruity, deep, rustic, warm, hoppy, and inviting. This is how any good "red ale" should greet you. Nice hoppiness at first, soon to fade back into the background, while lush, delicious maltiness permeates the rest of this ale’s meeting on the palate. Medium body, with a long, spicy, delicately fruity finish. A wel-consumed ale, but just enough flavor to stick it in the mind. That’s what I’m talking about! A sustained sweetness that never cloys is the prominent flavor factor, and overall balance is exacted here, making for an excellent, easily quaffed, very tasty ale.

12 ounce bottle. Beautiful aroma on this guy. Piney, hoppy nose with plenty of metallic, roasted, caramelly, sweet malts. Light buttery diaceyl, but this definitely works. I love the smell of this stuff. Mmmmmm. Minutely hazy orangey-amber body with a medium light manilla colored head and adequate lacing present. Spritzy, carbonated, piney-hoppy goodiness to start. Becomes rather grainy and roasted in the middle. Some light chewy caramel is also present. There is a light astringency in there, which kind of throws this off. Finishes light and pretty dry and bitter. This is fucking flavorful stuff.

Pretty red color, nice head, and fine lacing. I tried this beer because it was new, then kept buying it because it was delicious. This beer invites more and more drinking (is that good?). At once rich and complex, yet quite crisp and refreshing in its hops and slight biterness. I'll have another.

Clear amber body and soapy off-white head. Aroma of fresh apples, hint of spice and citrus and woody hops. Hoppy and fruit flavor. Malt flavor is on the light side for an amber. Mouthfeel is a little watery without that malty texture but this is still nice and easy drinking.

Clear rust. Ivory dollop of whipped froth. Balanced nose of apricots, buttery yeast, melon seeds, and peppery hops. Creamy with a prickly tinge, but palate filling. Toffee-glazed toasted nuts immediately anchor the snappy leathery yeast and earthy hop blend. Intense backside of spicy, fir tip-accented bitterness. Rounded fruity underlay caresses the scratchiness of the mild roast and leathery yeast. Light huskiness at the core comes and goes. Finishes dryly chalky and spicily hop-laden with herbal Tettnang. Stellar session brew which eloquently intertwines vibrant yet forceful hop bitterness with a plentitude of malt.
