Commercial Description:
A medium bodied amber ale, Cinder Cone Red has a rich malt flavor and red color derived from four kinds of caramel malt with a hint of dark roasted barley. Amarillo and Tettnang hops balance the toffee sweetness, creating a refreshing full hop flavor. Available January through June.

Nice orange color with a retained off white head and some lacing. Aroma is typical amber, caramelly malty, but wait what is this? An amber ale with hops in the aroma?. The flavor delivers a nice hop zing that really vaults this amber to the top of the charts. Nice interplay between the malts and the hops with a slight tilt towards the hops. Works for me!!!

Dark reddish in color. Slightly cream-colored head. Very attractive beer. It had the slight smell of iced tea. The taste was very hoppy and malty as wells as was the finish. I was totally impressed with this stuff. I would like to try this on tap if it is available.

Clear rust. Ivory dollop of whipped froth. Balanced nose of apricots, buttery yeast, melon seeds, and peppery hops. Creamy with a prickly tinge, but palate filling. Toffee-glazed toasted nuts immediately anchor the snappy leathery yeast and earthy hop blend. Intense backside of spicy, fir tip-accented bitterness. Rounded fruity underlay caresses the scratchiness of the mild roast and leathery yeast. Light huskiness at the core comes and goes. Finishes dryly chalky and spicily hop-laden with herbal Tettnang. Stellar session brew which eloquently intertwines vibrant yet forceful hop bitterness with a plentitude of malt.

Nice looking topaz color with a rich looking cream colored head. Toasty malt with light honey aromas. HInts of light fruit. Flavors follow nicely with the aromas. A very enjoyable amber.

Red / amber in color, with a light tan head. The malt and hops were nicely balanced in this, and it was very drinkable. Another solid beer from Deschutes.

bottle-thanks to Mromero548 for bringing this one down from CO. Burgandy red appearance with minimal white head. citrus hops and slight toasty malts, but mostly sweet hops on the aroma. Some green apple notes on the aroma as well. toasty palate with a hoppy finish. the combination of Amarillo and Tettnag is pretty interesting to taste on this one. Definately pretty complex flavors due to the unique use of these hops. Nice long finish. definately one i will revisit!

355ml bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>DarkElf, thanks Stephen. Orange-copper in colour, lasting beige coloured head, light visible carbonation, light lacing. The aroma has lots of floral hops, sweet, some peaches, light caramel. The flavour again has lots of floral hops, lots of fruit(peaches, some apple), sugary sweetness, light caramel malts. Bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes with a long dry bitterness. A nice bitter amber ale, nicely balanced.

Found this one bottled at the Liquor Depot in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Hazy, orange reddish pour with floaties, a foamy, off white head, toffee and candy apple nose, chocolate malt, nice and malty, mild but very quaffable.
