Aroma is typical amber, caramelly malty, but wait what is this? An amber ale with hops in the aroma?. The flavor delivers a nice hop zing that really vaults this amber to the top of the charts. Nice interplay between the malts and the hops with a slight tilt towards the hops. Works for me!!! OD40oz (602), Box Elder, South Dakota, USA

It had the slight smell of iced tea. The taste was very hoppy and malty as wells as was the finish. I was totally impressed with this stuff. I would like to try this on tap if it is available. gws57 (1144), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA

Hazy, orange reddish pour with floaties, a foamy, off white head, toffee and candy apple nose, chocolate malt, nice and malty, mild but very quaffable. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of fresh apples, hint of spice and citrus and woody hops. Hoppy and fruit flavor. Malt flavor is on the light side for an amber. Mouthfeel is a little watery without that malty texture but this is still nice and easy drinking. GermanBrews76 (667), Eugene, Oregon, USA

Very crisp and cleaned up well. I'm sure I could drink about eight of ten of them. I've now been drinking this stuff for like 3 months. Still love it. I go to the market and pick up a mixed deschutes 6 pack. Two Cinder COnes, 2 Obsidian Stouts and 2 Black Buttes. What a knock out combination for six dollars and fifty cents. The swetness and fruitiness never fail to surprise me. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA

Sure it may not be the best in any one class of beers. However, all of their beers are good. This has been a nice addition to their collection. Good tasting amber ale. I enjoyed my last 6 pack of it. Aroma of grapefruit, earth, caramel, dirt and toffee, all very well meshed and held together. Tastes malty upfront with caramel, toast, and lightly burned biscuits, along with grapefruit and earthy leafy hops. Finishes with a lingering leafy, toasty and only moderately bitter aftertaste. Medium bodied, but drinks lightly. Like many Deschutes beers, it’s flawless put together and the flavors flow pretty seemlessly. Nice!
