Awesome bottle with raised hops along the shoulder.
Pours a redish amber. Not much head, though.
The scent is a wonderful cross between hops and malt with a hint of...pine!
The taste is a well balanced hops/malt. The hops aren't Cascade, which suprised me knowing the brewery, they're Eask Kent Goldings and Tettnang. Great mouthfeel, just enough carbonation to cleanse the pallet but not so much for a mouthful of foam.
I could *easily* kill a six-pack of these. I hope there's some left as I will surely be buying more.

Citrus flavors explode but there is a maltyness that comes through with a bit of fruit. Hops dominated not a ballanced beer but not all beer should be. beeaman (16), Portland, Oregon, USA

Thin palate which is kind of a nice thing for session beers and dinner beers. Another great one from deschutes. DubC5000 (199), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 22, 2009 The roasted barley really comes through on the nose, with cooked malt and a floral hoppiness shining through as well. Solid malt/hop balance, with appreciable sweetness. Delectably smooth, slight bitterness at the end. Deep red-amber color. One of the better ambers I’ve had. Complex, and very memorable. mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jan 24, 2005 Poured a dark reddish amber with huge pillowy head that lasts and lasts. An aroma of caramel, roasted barley, smoke and a trace mustiness. The malt taste is huge. Starting with caramel and toffee plus some darker coffee like flavors. The hops tie this beer together nicely. The balance is dead on. Citrus and Pine together with substantial bitterness that is lightly puckering but not overwhelming. This is the best red I’ve ever had. The boys at Deschutes really got their shit together on this one. Too bad it’s only a seasonal. jah noth (1016), Rochester, New York, USA

Pours a brilliant red amber with a fluffy head. Tiny bubbles dance throughout. Toffee aroma with a hint of bitter aspirin. The sweet caramel malts coat your tongue and the bitterness catches up with you at the finish. Well balanced and delicious. Very good brew - thanks to skyhand again. Cletus (5055), Connecticut, USA

Smells hoppy with some sugary yogurt niotes. Tastes very hoppy with some very nice bitter elements. The amarillo and tettnang really shine in this one. Underneath, there’s a subtle malt profile with some basic fruity notes. Finish reminds me of sage. Great beer! Easily the best amber I’ve tasted.
