Commercial Description:
A medium bodied amber ale, Cinder Cone Red has a rich malt flavor and red color derived from four kinds of caramel malt with a hint of dark roasted barley. Amarillo and Tettnang hops balance the toffee sweetness, creating a refreshing full hop flavor. Available January through June.

Copper colour. Earthy-hoppy aroma with crystal malts. Fresh grapefruity hops, hint of crystal. Balanced, tasty. One of the better, and more robust, examples of the style.

This bottle took the long way to Illinois from Oregon, by way of Maui. I purchased this at the Wine Corner in Maui during my honeymoon, never got around to drinking it, so I brought it back to Illinois with me. Red-orange in color, slightly murky. Small, soft head is khaki colored and mostly diminishing. Caramel and grapefruity hops in the aroma. The crisp hoppiness and mellow caramel malts meld together for one delicious aroma. Rather high hoppiness nearly overshadows the toffee malt profile. Lingering bitter aftertaste.

Pours reddish orange with a full beige head. Malty and hoppy aroma with some fruitiness. Flavor is also fruity, mildy hoppy and some citrus. A clean, fresh tatsting beer that goes down very well.

Very nice amber color, with good clarity and ample wavy head...really 4+ in appearance...aroma is caramelly with brighter notes from the hops---quite nice...Flavor is multi-layered...good malt floor provides sweetness, balanced by well-hopped top-end that starts out slightly citrusy and then gives way to and interesting floral bloom that is dry at the same time...finish is dry with some lingering malty sweetness riding shotgun..The body is appropriately middle-of-the-road, with enough malt weighiness...it is also effervescent, the moderate carbonation providing enough spritely quality to complement the whole package...Overall, this is well-constructed, well-balanced, good-looking, and good-tasting...a really nice all-around performer...

Big bountiful white head with an alluring red-copper color. Citrusy aroma. Balanced very well between the sweetness and spicy flavor. Beer flows well from start to the mild hop finnish Nice and refreshing.

Pretty red color, nice head, and fine lacing. I tried this beer because it was new, then kept buying it because it was delicious. This beer invites more and more drinking (is that good?). At once rich and complex, yet quite crisp and refreshing in its hops and slight biterness. I'll have another.

Awesome amber, really hoppy and a nice red color. Reminds me of Rogue's Red.

Great appearance in the glass. Very fruity/hopy nose. I think this is the first ’red’ I’ve had and I’d be hard pressed to put a labble on it, not like a darker beer (porter, stout) not like Pale Ale or IPA... It’s an interesting middle ground. Deffinetly worth a try.
