Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2006, Deschutes Brewery’s Hop Henge Experimental IPA reappears this year with more extreme hop flavors than ever before. The new formulation is the epitome of the brewery’s experimental style and commitment to innovation, while gratifying their unquenchable thirst for beautifully balanced hoppy beers. The newest incarnation of Hop Henge uses several new hop processes and techniques to create a truly unique and unexpected beer. Several pounds of Centennial & Cascade hops are in each barrel with a heavy dry-hop presence to top it off. A blend of crystal, pale and caraston malts creates an overall biscuity characteristic that is dense and muscular, building the alcohol base to support the monstrous hop profile. 95 IBUs.

Bottle shared by wolf at SL. Orange in color, decent head. Nice aroma of citrus and floral. Taste was different than most IPA. Not in a bad way though. Malty...Floral and citrus notes. Texture and carbonation level were jonny on the spot. Overall a unique IPA that I enjoyed... Thanks Wolf!

Crushed with Carythedude and Jakebra. Orangish pour, big hop nose. Slightly thin, sweet flavor. Almost under attenuated. Citrus, melon, a bit hoppy. Not too bad.

Growler, purchased at the Deschutes Brewery/Public House in Portland. Pours a heavy orange color, nice head, good lacing. Strong hop nose with citrus, pine, alcohol...the usuals. Great palate. Bitter finish.

Bottle Pours out a copper/amber topped with a sand head. Aroma floral and citrus rings on. Tast of bitter grapfruit peel all over this one. Some nice floral but more bitter than anything. Maybe back to the Double??? I don’t think this is just a IPA.

22oz bottle; initials pours as a slightly hazed red/brown amber but then gets real clear while retaining it’s caramel tinted head; aromatic hop aroma and astringent flavor; peaks of dry bitter with a mellowed hop. (#45)

This is a perfect PNW IPA! Full of the serious bitterness that permeates the great PNW IPA’s. Pours amber with white head. Aroma is not very present, but the flavor is aggressive. Very bitter, with floral notes to back up the bitterness. Not much base beer beyond the hoppiness, yet it conceals its alcohol well.

Bottle. [thanks for the extra, after4ever]
Pours a wonderful orange amber with a fine smallish, creamy, off-white head. Fair duration, leaves fine lacings. Aroma has lots of strawberry, grapefruit and pine. Light caramel. Medium carbonation, fine dry mouthfeel. Flavour has a bit of ash, some caramel. Then lots of pine hops and general fruitiness (grapefruit, strawberry, apple, pear). Very dry throughout. Quite aggresive - and very nice!
