Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2006, Deschutes Brewery’s Hop Henge Experimental IPA reappears this year with more extreme hop flavors than ever before. The new formulation is the epitome of the brewery’s experimental style and commitment to innovation, while gratifying their unquenchable thirst for beautifully balanced hoppy beers. The newest incarnation of Hop Henge uses several new hop processes and techniques to create a truly unique and unexpected beer. Several pounds of Centennial & Cascade hops are in each barrel with a heavy dry-hop presence to top it off. A blend of crystal, pale and caraston malts creates an overall biscuity characteristic that is dense and muscular, building the alcohol base to support the monstrous hop profile. 95 IBUs.

Bottle from K&B. Amber/brownish in color. Strong hoppy aromas. Somewhat skunky. Good hoppiness, but seems to have a bit of a soapy flavor. Pretty tasty but not great.

Bottle. Copper beer with an off-white head. Sumemr fruit and light grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and pine flavor with some summer fruit. Medium bodied. Nice bitterness. Grapefruit and pine lingers with light tropical fruits and a nice bitterness.

Crushed with Jakebra. Caramel malt and hops on the nose. A kinda funky flavor, can’t put my finger on it with some hop presence, but a kick-ass finish of bittering hops comes through. Love the finish. Pretty nice brew.

650 ml bottle from Freddy. Pours a translucent copper color with a big off-white head that has fair retention. The aroma is rich with citrus--lemons and grapefruit--and a bit of green hops. The flavor is biter hops forward with nutty hops, sweet caramel, grapefruit and pine. The mouthfeel is smooth and malty. The finish is medium in duration and dry. Overall: A very tasty IPA.

Bottle from South Bay Drugs. Aroma was served with a healthy and hearty smell of floral hops and bold notes of citrus. Poured a burnt orange color with signs of flakes floating about and thick foam head. The flavor is a extreme shock of bitter hops and yet also contains a raw honey taste while a bready wheat oat background finishes last.

Chestnut amber with a great, lasting head. Toasty malts with an underbelly of sweet caramel. Snappy and bold hops seemed green and organic-tasting. Also zingy, electric, citrusy and sprucy. Tasty beer.
