Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2006, Deschutes Brewery’s Hop Henge Experimental IPA reappears this year with more extreme hop flavors than ever before. The new formulation is the epitome of the brewery’s experimental style and commitment to innovation, while gratifying their unquenchable thirst for beautifully balanced hoppy beers. The newest incarnation of Hop Henge uses several new hop processes and techniques to create a truly unique and unexpected beer. Several pounds of Centennial & Cascade hops are in each barrel with a heavy dry-hop presence to top it off. A blend of crystal, pale and caraston malts creates an overall biscuity characteristic that is dense and muscular, building the alcohol base to support the monstrous hop profile. 95 IBUs.

Bottle. [thanks for the extra, after4ever]
Pours a wonderful orange amber with a fine smallish, creamy, off-white head. Fair duration, leaves fine lacings. Aroma has lots of strawberry, grapefruit and pine. Light caramel. Medium carbonation, fine dry mouthfeel. Flavour has a bit of ash, some caramel. Then lots of pine hops and general fruitiness (grapefruit, strawberry, apple, pear). Very dry throughout. Quite aggresive - and very nice!

22oz bottle. Poured a medium and very slightly hazy amber color with a larger sized off white head. Some lacing was left on the glass as the head diminished. Aromas of fruitiness, citrus, floral, caramel, and pine. Tastes of pine, citrus, lighter fruitiness (vs. the aromas), floral, and caramel. The floralness came out more and more as I drank and enjoyed this one. I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

22oz bottle-pours a big tight foamy off white head and copper color. Aroma is nice grapefruit and lemon rind/pine hops. Tase is resin/grapefruit rind with some bitter, some herbal, medium malt. Then some tannins and alcohol come to the front, detracting. Thanks skoutis for trade with jwc215 and me. 3.3, at cellar temp 3.6

Bottle… mgumby10’s & hopscotch’s WtFFfFDotF Throwdown … Clear burnt orange ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Fantastic, small, tight retention. Caramel, citric, earthy aroma – grapefruit, biscuit, black tea and pine. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and laid-back carbonation. Big caramel and biscuit malt backbone lends plenty of support to the nice, earthy, hop bitterness. Raspy, moderately bitter, dry finish.

Pours a transparent copper amber with a small, frothy, stringy-lacing white head. Aroma of big juicy citrusy hops with a touch of grassiness and orange along with some sweet underlying caramely notes. Body starts with nice full malty sweetness and good balance of resiny bittering and flavor hops before a semi-sweet crisp finish. A very nice double IPA.

Pours amber with an off white head. Smells of sweet nectarines, grapefruit, melon, resiny, metallic, soapy. Tastes of layered citrus and has some bitterness on the finish.
