GMCC2181 (358), Bear, Delaware, USA Jul 8, 2008 Bottle from mashmaster. Surprised to see such a low style percentile points... Any way, nice red amber color, good head. Very flowery on the nose. Taste is really smooth. Very well balanced and highly drinkable. Not that bitter but still enjoyable. Low carbonation with a medium texture. I am not sure about the 95 IBU’s. But still impressed overall on this beer. Thanks tom for this one!
emacgee (1033), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Aug 28, 2008 Thanks durhambeer for sharing. Poured a copper orange with a one finger creamy orange head. The nose was very hoppy. More of an herbal piny hop. Very fresh, some fruityness, caramel, sweet malt balance. The flavor was very earthy and herbal with the hops, lightly warming, after a while I found the malt presence in this to be especially balanced and gratifying. Very rounded well balanced DIPA. durhambeer (397), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 28, 2008 Bottle shared with emacgee. Bright amber pour with small but creamy off-white head. Not surprisingly, big hops on the nose -- grapefruit/citrus and spruce; but also some nice biscuity malt presence. A well-balanced IIPA. BrotherGrendel (135), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Aug 23, 2008 Pours a clear dark orange hue, big dollops of white shaving cream-like head sustains, thick lacing. Aromas of grassy hops and sweet bread malts, light alcohol. Taste is initially characterized by very bitter and grassy hops, sour grapefruit and citrus, warming alcohol, biscuit and bread malts slowly open up in the middle, tones of pine, oranges, lemons, caramel, finishes very dry and bitter. Medium-bodied, watery thin texture with slight bitter resin, moderate-high carbonation. The alcohol presence is mixed into the front of the taste and is mostly gone in the finish, a very bitter DIPA with low hop taste profile, nice malt balance, wished this had a bit more body and texture, okay but nothing great for this style. Zinister (876), Houston, Texas, USA Aug 22, 2008 Shared with KAggie97. Somewhat hazy amber pour with big head. Big nose of malts, grapefruit, strawberries and cirtus hops. Full bodied with good malt and hop balance and big, but not overly done hop flavors. KAggie97 (1886), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Aug 18, 2008 Bottle shared with Zinister. Thanks! Pours an average amber, but the slackerness ends there. A wonderful aroma of strawberry grapefruit biscuits greet the nose and don’t let go. This aroma provides a nice segueway to the flavors of malty grapefruit and a sweetened tea finish. Nice mouthfeel; flavors are spread nicely. Pretty good brew.
