Commercial Description:
Part of the Bond Street Series. This Fresh Hop Pale Ale is all about celebrating the hop harvest in the fall. Fresh picked hops have to be added to the brew immediately and in abundance. Roughly 270 pounds of Crystal hops from Doug Weathers' farm outside Salem, Oregon will be added to the 50 barrel batch in addition to some dry kilned whole flower hops. That adds up to approximately 5.5 pounds of hops per barrel brewed.

Bomber. Pours clear bright copper with a lacy white head. Sweet aroma of tangerines, pineapple, ginger, caramel. Light body and medium carbonation. My nose said this is a mis-labeled IPA. But the taste is peachy and soft, with almost none of the IPA bitterness. Super-dry, almost woody ginger finish. I’m trying to think of a beer that could convert more people to being hop-heads, and I just can’t think of one. I should have opened this about five minutes after I bought it.

12-9-07 bottle.
Mostly clear amber color with a foamy cream colored head. It is very "green" - the aroma and taste are those distinctive fresh hop earthy tones I have seen in other fresh hops. Rich and hoppy flavor - not tart or overly bitter, but rather smooth and easy to drink.

Aroma is yeast and pine - pours cloudy amber with a tan head into a half yard. Flavor is not unlike an IPA - very hoppy and very piney. Hops dominate the flavor, with little malt to balance - but that’s OK. The hops are good. Distinctive bread flavor. 2008: Slightly musty bready aroma on pour. Nice hop bite - not sure why this is an APA and not an IPA. There is enough hop here to make it so. 2009: more up to its stylename - definitely an APA but no less hops. This one has the body of an APA, with the florals of an IIPA. Very good.

Bottle; poured an oranbe-amber with an off white head. Aroma was good; sweet caramel, fresh citrus hops and yeast. Fresh and clean taste; palate was almost too thin, but it worked well. I would have liked just a little more hop bitterness in the finish. Caramel malt base was solid, with a dash of sweetness. Some fruit juice aspects throughout the flavor. Hop taste was of citrus, flowers and a really nice grass presence. Last fresh/wet hop beer of the year for me, and this one measured up well. Good sessionable brew.

Amber pour that is mostly transluscent and slightly hazed. Small nice beige head. Smell is grassy, green hops, and somewhat mild actually for what I was expecting. Some big notes of oranges, citrus, are evident. Creamy body, with light carbonation. Refreshing citrusy sweet hop mix, that is far sweeter than any fresh hop beer I’ve had. Exceptionally smooth, and almost demands a bit more bittering hops to balance the smooth juice like body and sweetness. Very easy drinking but a bit too sweet towards the end, I found. Still a nice wet hopped beer.

Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. This brew is a hazy orange-amber color with a medium off-white head that has decent retention. Stringy lacing. Hops and fruit in the nose, with a touch of pine. Medium-bodied with a soft hops character. Floral and grassy notes as well, plus malt and spice in the background. The finish is moderately hoppy and lingering. Overall this is a tasty and refreshing APA.

On tap at Hamiltons. Pours with a red body topped by a thin to medium thick off-white head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet yet hoppy and bitter with a nice fresh, green hoppiness full of subtle pine notes and a little grassiness. The aroma has a slight grainy note to it. Light to medium bodied, crisp and smooth.
