Commercial Description:
Concordia Cup 2008 Champion!! This Imperial IPA was created in the most non-traditional Deschutes way: with Cascade and Centennial pellet hops. If you are scared of lingering bitterness or a fuzzy tongue, do not attempt to tame this beast. IBS's: 94

Portland, OR - Nov. 2008: just a few scribbles at the bar: nice intense hoppy nose. Mdeium bitterness - going by fast.

Draught. Nose is pine, grapefruit, and light pineapple notes with some caramel and musk deeper down. Beautiful bright red with a thin head that leaves trails below and lacing above. Leads with a strong bitterness that lasts throughout the palate but never becomes overbearing. Lots of pine with more subdued citrus character.

Bold hop aroma but not overwhelming. Very woodsy and decent. Pours a beautiful amber color, delicately carbonated head. Very pretty beer. Flavor is strong with hop presence. Sharp piney and a well balanced bitter/buttery finish. Palate is a bit sharp and bitter but easily drinkable and balanced.

snifter on tap at Deschutes pub in Portland. a reddish golden color with little head. super complex aroma, heavy on hops, citrus, honey and spice. flavor is just as pleasing with a nice bite of floral hops, light grapefruit, and a bit of caramel on the after taste. quite a good DIPA.

Snifter at Deschutes in Portland. Red-amber with no head. Cinnamon and nutmeg aromas. Perhaps some ginger as well. Fresh hops, oranges. Flavor is dominated by fresh, bitter hops and pine. A little bit of orange and spice. Medium bodied, very creamy texture, but also very astringent. Delicious. Goes well with buffalo wings.

On tap at Deschutes in Portland.
Pours dark amber with a little cloudiness. Very pretty. Smallish head with good lacing. Basically a double Inversion IPA, which is awesome. VERY strong, super sweet aroma! Almost smells like a barleywine. Hops are killing it as you would expect but I think the malt puts up a pretty good fight at 8%. The IBU bite is just a little strong and out of sync with the overall picture. Well balanced other than that. Delicious! Looking forward to having this again!

On tap at the Portland pub. Pours darker amber with a small white head. Very floral citrus hop nose, green and sharp bitterness. Big hop bomb, caramel malts try to lay a base, but its a hop show, who’d a thunk. The hops put forth a nice floral bouquet, grapefruit and resiny kick. Turned out to be a really nice IIPA, pulling a ton of floral character into a glass.
