FlyingSwine (128), Littleton, Colorado, USA Jun 13, 2008 Absolutely beautiful looking beer. Pours a dark, cloudy crimson, with a respectable head. Aroma is typical of NW IPAs. Flavor is heavilly hoppy and way too bitter for my tongue. Palate is slightly fizzy, and really dry. Overall this one isn’t my cup of tea.
alexsdad06 (666), Ohio, USA Oct 10, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy of riversideAK. Pours a clear copper colo with a medium sized off white head that leaves nice lacing. The aroma is moderately sweet grapefruit citrus with some light piney hops as well. The flavor has a great deal of hop presence. Grapefruit and pine dominate in the mouth. What sweetness there might be is quickly overtaken with bitterness. There is not much malt backbone to speak of. Medium bodied, on the dry side, not especially complex. Its not that this is bad, just one dimensional. waolsen (1018), Littleton, Colorado, USA Oct 7, 2008 bottle. copper pour with foamy head. funky and earthy aroma. large bitterness up front and rich sweet malts. hops are there but not very impressive flavor. little funky. darn1207 (335), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Sep 28, 2008 tap sampler from deschutes bar in portland. clear copper pour. citrus earthy aroma. tastes of sweet caramel, citrus, spices. piney bitter aftertaste. crisp and refreshing. good. mabel (1673), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 27, 2008 [1660-20080904] 12floz bottle. (@ Diamond Princess cruise ship; near AK) BeerBunker (105), Burbank, Illinois, USA Sep 27, 2008 Pours dark orange with a yellowish head. Poured with heavy carbonation. Aroma is of hops, slight citrus hints, and malt. The carbonation leaves the beer with a very creamy mouthfeel. Taste is of malts and banana, balanced by bitter hops. The sharp bitterness lingers on long after each sip.
