The taste is the same as the aroma while noting this is not a hop bomb but a more balanced IPA between malt & hops that has a dry ending & good lacing.

Beer pours dark copper with a citrus hop aroma. First taste is awesome- like a barleywine with sweet malts up-front, some caramel, delicate sweetness, not overpowering at all. Then a terrific bitter hop profile follows- grapefruit primarily. Finish is crisp, clean, not at all sweet. This beer has great balance, malts and hops work perfectly together. Excellent. neepsntatties (330), Portland, Oregon, USA

Nose... mild hops, spent grain. Palate... moderately tangy hops, slightly biscuity, rather uneventful. gracefullypunk (307), Washington, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a medium creamy white head that lasts awhile leaving good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is strong floral hop with bubblegum and grapefruit. Thin mouthfeel with a piney grapfruit flavor with a dry finish. Easy to drink, a good IPA from Deschutes. savnac (431), Palmer, Alaska, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 15, 2009 12 oz bottle. Clear copper/orange with a small off white head. Aroma is citrus, pine and sugary sweet caramel. The flavor is bitter up front with a sweetness that fades in and then finishes bitter. Medium body with average carbonation and a long dry finish. Great easy drinking IPA, the alcohol is well hidden. After a few this one can sneek up on you. Berley31 (198), New Brunswick, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 13, 2009 A: Poured with a beautiful large, white head, that exhibited excellent lacing in clumps and spiderweb patterns on the sides of the glass. Body is hazy and a perfect orange/red color... beautiful to look at.
S: Very nice aroma of heavy hops with pine, lemon and lime throughout. There’s also a hint of sweetness in the form of the malt (caramel, maybe?) that offers a slight tilt away from all hops.
T: Wow... a perfect balance of sweetness and hoppiness for an IPA, meaning that it is slightly sweet at the beginning, but ends with a high amount of hops and citrus for a nice, long duration.
M: Great on the palate as well, with a medium-full body, creamy texture, and average-soft carbonation.
D: One of my favorite IPAs... after doing a taste-test of 6-7 IPAs in a row, this was a perfect one to finish off with. Makes me ashamed to think of how it was only months ago that I avoided hoppy beers whenever possible, but extremely happy that I’ve finally turned around. Hoppy aroma. Amber mid brown coloured strong in alcohol and fruity with a little dryness and bitterness in a crisp malt finish.
