| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clearish, dark mahogany body with a small, bubbly, off-white head.
Smell: Spicy-scented caramel malt nose with a slight note of pine.
Taste: Sweet caramel maltiness sprinkled with spices. Drop of molasses. Floral overtones, along with a taste of pine needles, though only a mild balancing bitterness. Dry, lightly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Why, it’s downright tolerable! A decent, stand-up member of the winter warmer league. ajm (935), Los Angeles, California, USA

Re-rate 9/25/08: a 2005 bottle.
Was wandering around in Beverage House in Thatcher, AZ (google it and be floored) and found a sixer of 2005. Thick black licorice, brownie and black currant in nose and flavor. Additional flavors include spice, prune, and burnt toffee. Totally exceptional. Sammy (4013), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 13, 2008 Pours a lovely chocolate brown with white head and a glassfull of web-and-dot lacing. Aroma, initially very delightful, still malty and spicey as it airs out. Taste is chocolate, more thick initially and then middling. Dry taste, a bit of an old ale, but never drying. Rich and interesting. 2007 version. Thanks Dr. Jay. tuohyam (14), Enumclaw, Washington, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 2, 2008 I think much stronger juices are in need for instant jubilation, but I immediately take a liking to the carefree package design on this Deschutes beer. The body is a rich, dark cherry body, clear but very dark. The head is diminutive, almost puny on such a dark beer body, but throttles the glass in a wicked strong lacing. Thus, when the lumpy, bubbly and balsa wood colored head slowly pops and recedes, you know very clearly where on the glass it started. The smell is, at first, dusty and dirty - memories of mountain-biking in Moab surface. But a little patience yields, cream, truffle, pear juice and orange rind. The taste is very different, taking a malty, slightly sweet milk chocolate stand. Add in a touch of grape soda sugar and a slightly overwhelming carbonation and there’s my Jubelale. Nice aroma, but the flavor is too generic to stand out from the hordes of other winter time beers micro breweries love to produce. vulcanmeister (102), La Grande, Oregon, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | May 31, 2008 Pours dark amber from the bottle with a nice light beige head. Aroma is bread, chocolate, and fruit (grapefruit?). Flavor is rich with chocolate, dark fruitiness, caramel, and pine. Delicious sweetness and maltiness that just goes on and on. Cheers!
