Deschutes Jubelale 2006 pours out a medium to dark brown color. It has an interesting foamy head with large and tiny bubbes packed together in a moonscape-like design. It collapses unevenly to form a residual frothy crown. The lacing is quite intricate and plentiful. The aroma contains roasted malt, some light fruitiness, and caramel. Roasted malt, caramel malt, and light mocha notes comprise the flavor. There is also some delicate fruitiness/citrus and mild bitterness as the beer warms. It has a dry, cocoa-like finish. The overall flavor is very controlled, balanced, and pleasing. Average body and mouthfeel. This is a very good Winter Ale (probably toward the top of the list) and one of the better Deschutes brews that I’ve had. Sadly, this is just another satisfying beer that isn’t available in my area...

Pours a very nice looking brown color. Nothing specal in the head, but it’s there. The smell is complex, but not overpowering. The flavor and drinkability are great for this brew. Almost a sweet taste at some points. Very good combonation between the sweet flavor and the hops/alcohol. Very, drinkable. Snojerk321 (2027), San Diego, California, USA

Probably not a fair rating. I will try it again some other time. Had it following a pint of the unbelievably huge The Abyss. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA

The first aroma I thought I caught was maybe ripened plums. Flavor of malts, light spices, and a touch of smoke and bitter hops in the finish. Feels creamy to the palate. Svejk (12), Washington, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jan 14, 2007 Jubelale is my favorite winter seasonal. On a few occasions, I’ve had the chance to try this on cask or on nitro, and it is truly an amazing experience. It manages to be malty, roasted and hoppy in a very well balanced way. I also really like that Deschutes has a local artist make a new label for this beer every year. When I find myself gearing up for 6 months of dark days, the appearance of a new Jubelale label brightens my day. mikebeertaster (99), vancouver, Washington, USA

It is so rich in flavor it feels more like a holiday meal then a holiday beer. This is by far my favorite winter ale I have had. Very bitter in my my book means very good.
