Pours a deep reddish brown with a few glints of ruby when held against light. Moderate off-white head that lasted through two-thirds of the glass and left a layer of foam with each sip. Very pleasant aroma of caramel, malt and brown sugar. The flavor is again caramel, malt and brown sugar, but not quite as rich and fulfilling as the aroma. Medium bitterness at the finish. A very solid beer. SuperDave70 (929), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Nov 28, 2008 Pours a dark brown with sparkling red highlights and a lacy tan head. Caramel malt, ripe fruit and a hint of spice in the aroma. Flavor is slightly sweet and fruity, with hints of malt, chocolate and spice. A good hoppy, though not overly bitter finish. Seriously not bad at all! GreggG (4), Spokane, Washington, USA does not count Nov 28, 2008 Great winter beer - probably the best winter seasonal from the Northwest breweries. Moderate head, minimal lacing, full body, great roasted malt aroma.
Enjoy this beer on those cold winter nights when the wet snow is falling outside and you know you’re going to have to get up in the morning and shovel it.
