Pours deep amber, frothy head leaving thick lace patterns. Very fruity aroma, little to no hop presence. Strong malt and fruit flavors with a bitter hop flavor finish. Medium - high carbonation, slightly thick body.

Pours dark and with a lot of good winter/holiday flavor. The beer isn’t over spiced, but has some nice spices that balance the rest of this relatively heavy beer nicely. The beer also has hints of citrus and spruce that add to the winter enjoyment.

This is probably my favorite winter ale. It is quite hoppy, but well balanced by malt with a lot of body. It has a nice bitter finish that leaves a little bite on the tongue, inviting the next sip. Has a decently high alcohol content, but is covered well. I could, and have, drank multiples of this in one night and never got tired of it. An excellent beer. Christmas just isn’t the same without it :)

Appearance: Dark brown with a small tan head that dissipates fairly quickly
Aroma: Spices, roasted malts, pine
Taste: Hops, roasted malts and coffee
This was better than I expected. I don’t usually care for winter beers, but this was good.

Pours amber with a huge orange head. Aroma is of spices, banana, and chocolate with some mild citrusy hops. The flavor is mostly dark fruit with plums, black cherry, caramel, and a nice spicy hop bite in the end with a little biscuit. Nice classic winter seasonal.

This is a prototype winter ale for me. It is not Christmas until I have this beer. Love the art on the label. Great warmer with nice spices. A little bit of hops in the back end. Brown and hazy in color.

12 oz. bottle from a 12 pack picked up at the local QFC. Dark transparent brown with a rather thin head sitting on top, but for an English Strong Ale this thing looks rather good. I like the picture better than the actual label of what I am drinking now. Slight toffee, but for me I always get this subtle fruit aroma from the malts and hops. Sweet caramel malt aroma coming through. Quite aromatic for an English-styled brew. Ok, there is the toffee, nutty, fruity, crappy malt flavor I was looking for. I don’t care how much I have tried this style, but I can’t seem to enjoy it to its fullest. Not that creamy, but again there is a bit of nuances in terms of aroma and flavor. Glad to have tried, but I think I will leave it at this one.
