A great barleywine here, some kind soul shared this at Ebenezer’s in Maine. Hoppier than most barleywines, maybe because of freshness, but truly enjoyable.

Bomber from GM liquors, best after Apr 20 2010; 2009 release. Nose of very flowery hops, golden raisins, oak, and caramel. Clear copper with a small beige glass lacing head. Flavor is very oaky bubblegum, with caramel and light fruit. Best young BW I have had. Wonder what it will be in a year?

The aroma is rich and deep with fruits and cherres. Slight alcohol and oaking is noticeable. Caramel and sugar sweetness as well. Lightly floral but primarily a wonderful fruit mix. Visually, the body is deep red with a decent covering of a head. Taste is cloying sweetness with a well balanced palate.

Enjoyed this and see further improvement with 12 months of age. Nice touch of bourbon barrel age’ness to give this some lift and a consistant finish. Woody, alc, touch of sweetness, carmel and vanilla as you’d expect. Touch to say it had a good appearance being a barleywine. Glad to have several of these stashed away. Possibly the best barleywine i’ve had ever, though 04 bigfoot on draft was really good stuff a couple weeks back...

Bottle at ACBF09. Pours a clear brown with a small head. Aroma of raisin, caramel, toffee, and sweet malt. Flavor of sweet caramel malt. Flavor is decent but the palate is too sticky and sweet. Just ok for me. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

22oz bottle thanks to riversideAK. Pours ruby with a frothy tan head. Aroma is of oak, malt, caramel, alcohol, grass, and spice. Taste is of caramel malt, with lots of spice, honey, and grass. Has a decent hop taste to it, but it is lost among the other flavors, especially the oak. The big oak flavors mesh well with the other flavors. The alcohol presence is masked very well underneath the oak and malt. Each sip finishes with a lingering oaky alcohol taste. Mouthfeel is creamy. This beer is very drinkable given the alcohol content. I liked it a lot.
