22oz bottle (2005 vintage). thanks to andrew for the share......pours a dark amber caramel brown with a thin off-white head..... aroma of somewhat papery oxidized malt and dark fruit....flavors of sweet caramel and dark fruit, light toffee. moderate carbonation and average mouthfeel. can’t detect too much oak. slightly bitter in the finish.

I got this on draft at a beer festival in Arcata, CA. It was so good I made three trips back to this one. It poured a cloudy red color with an off-white head with pink tinges. Nose is very much of ripe fruit with floral and citrus hops. Very rich, smooth, and creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is of caramel malts, and lot of ripe fruit and the barrel aging is detectable and adds to an ambiance. The finish is lightly bitter and overall this was remarkable easy drinking for a barley wine. I would like to find this in bottles but don’t have much hope. I feel lucky to have had a chance at this. This showed up in bottles. Got a couple. Just as good as I remembered it.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a malty hoppy spicy dark fruit aroma. Sweetish malty caramel flavor with some spicy hints. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter finish with some spicy hints.

Tasted on tap at the Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Festival on 11/15/2008. This Barleywine pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet with a touch of oak, there is a touch of funk as well. A medium bodied barleywine. The malts are fruity and sweet, with a touch of wood. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. Good balance. Very smooth taste. Hides the alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Draft at Bistro BA fest. Orangey brown pour, no head. Aroma is sweet malt, alcohol, some light bourbon. Flavor is the same, but it also had an above average amount of hopping to distract from the sweetness and barrel.

Pours attractive dark brown with a touch of red. The nose is a bit grainy and hoppy, as is the flavor. Quite smooth and very little sign of %.

22oz bottle, 2005 vintage, courtesy of CSchwaz. Thanks, Craig! Pours a very murky, tarnished orange-brown color; thin light-tan head with minimal lacing. Solid amounts of dried fruits, chewy oranges, and a slight show of alcohol. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy dried fruits, caramel, and slightly rough toasty oak; lots of chewy, soft dried fruits but a bit messy at this point. Medium finish: dried fruit, orange peel, some mineral bitterness.
