| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 8, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear reddish with a pretty large head. Aroma is sweet raisins and a really pronounced burned cashew thing that is really off-putting. Bad. Sweet and pretty creamy in the mouth, some nice dark fruit presence shines. But a heavy bittering element really clashes here. Not sure whether this is supposed to be a hoppy expression or not. Too sweet, not balanced, and the burned nut thing going on is just bad in my opinion. On a positive note it’s not all that hot for an 11% beer.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2009 The intrigue of the wax dipped bottle is gone for me. It once was cool but now more of a pain. 2009 Edition. The beer once poured looks very nice. Reddish amber with a thin lasting froth. Smells like a big beer; big ABV and IBUs. Thick aroma of hops and syrupy malt. Tastes like the aroma advertised with a lot of spice and a sourness from the barrel at the edge. A nice warm sipper. Lots of hops. Pour a dark reddish brown into a glass with not much head. Tastes like an ale with slightly sour aftertaste. The liquid lingers in mouth after a swallow. This is ok stuff. A few have been better. Many have been much worse. matt7215 (1000), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 25, 2009 This is a big beer. Unlike Doggie Claws or other American barleywines this is less hop forward. Big alcohol bite at start and at finish. Malty in the middle. fata2683 (932), Panama City, Florida, USA

The aroma is very bready with toasted malt and soft alcohol. Medium / full body with a good amount of soft carbonation that has a small bite. The flavor starts with lots of sourdough, toasty malt, alcohol and spicy phenols. The finish is a bit nutty, fusel and barleywine style malt. boFNjackson (1323), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 7, 2009 (Second rating of the Lost Barrels version for my 1300!) Holiday Ale Festival... I guess the bottled version is different batches that have been barrel aged and then bleneded together to create the final product. This version was from a single batch aged in a single barrel that was "lost" at the brewery and later discovered. We were then treated to this very special, unblended version of Mirror Mirror at the HAF 2009. Poured deep amber with a tan head. Rich, boozy, nutty, and malt aroma. Creamy palate. Sweet with pure sugar cane flavors. Strong vanilla and a solid alcohol warmth. Barrel notes like oak and whiskey. Astringent (in a great way), boozy finish.
Earlier Rating: 12/4/2008 Total Score: 4 2005 vintage at Holiday Ale Fest 08... Poured reddish with a beige head. Aroma was tart with bakers yeast and was sweet. Flavors of fruity and floral notes with hops and caramel flavors. Stung the palate a little bit with alcohol and pine-like flavors towards the finish.
