joshpiledean (194), Ames, Iowa, USA Dec 10, 2004 Opaque black pour, small tan/light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts and dry chocolate, very rich, slight alcohol. Burnt malt flavor, with some light coffee tones, some chocalte comes through. Long bitter chocolate finish. Rich feel, rich body. Will buy again.
Beerman6686 (874), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 4, 2009 This poured an opaque black color with a very very small tan head. Aroma was loaded with fresh coffee grinds and nice roasted notes as well. Flavor is very roasted and lots of coffee flavors, not much sweet chocolateys to be found here at all. This is a very solid everyday drinking stout. Travlr (427), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jan 3, 2009 Nitro at the brewery tap in Portland. Black, medium brown head. Aroma of milk chocolate. A bit thin, but decent malts in a chocolate background. LilBeerDoctor (797), East Setauket, New York, USA Jan 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with a thick tan head that fades. Pours clear dark - black with thick frothy beige - yellowish head.
Aroma is malty with some very nice roasted coffee.
Taste of caramel malt with the coffee being distinct and flavorful, reminiscent of mocha.
After taste is lightly hoppy with a good floral finish.
At 6.4abv, the overall mouthfeel was warming.
An amazing treat.
