Smooth and black, like the volcanic rock, Obsidian Stout is a solid, satisfying beer with a rich roasted-malt flavor. Obsidian Stout gets is inspiration from one of the world's largest obsidian flows at Newberry Volcano--just a few miles south of the brewery. "The Big Obsidian Flow," as they call it, covers more than 700 acres with shiny black obsidian.

Bottle courtesy of Justin from TBS...thanks. Opaque brown/black, brown head. Smell is hardcore coffee with some dark chocolate. Taste is the same. Very impressive, very complex taste. Starts bitter with the coffee taste, then finishes with the dark chocolate. Great balance of bitter and sweet.

Pours black with red edges. Nice roasty aroma, good and chocolaty with prominent dark fruit. Mouthfilling roast flavours of coffee and chocolate, a dry hoppy bitterness. Long roasty finish with a nice hop lingering too. A beautiful subtle, hoppy stout with hops complimenting the roast, not competing.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of Sparky27. Thanks! Pours a deep, dark brown color with a medium brown head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet sugary notes and light notes of nuts and coffee. Taste is roasted malts, sweet coffee notes and a bitter leafy hop finish. Smooth, medium bodied. Refreshing and very sessionable. Good stout.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Rich chocolate malt, coffee and a presence of fruity tones. Such a good balance, nice creamy mouthfeel. A subtle roastiness comes through as this warms too. More chocolate in the finish. A delicious stout.

Bottle as shown. Pours a very dark brown almost black with a small creamy light tan head that diminishes quickly leaving decent spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is a roasted malt with coffee, dark fruit, and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with a dry rich malt with roast and coffee with a nice dry finish. Hides alcohol well making it easy to drink, a good Stout from Deschutes.

Rich jet black. Thick coffee crema head that lingers like a pint of guiness. Light smokey feel with a wonderful balance on roasted malts some light pine hops and a dark creamy texture with strong tobacco hints. Served warmer and it really opened this up in its full glory
