Good retention. Citrusy, piney hop goodness christens the nose. Medium to full-bodied with gentle carbonation. Nice balance - almost tilts toward the sweet side, but not quite. Fruity sweetness; grapefruit, piney bitterness. Lengthy, sweet, and then dry finish. Thanks to smith4498 for providing the bottle! KAggie97 (2481), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 1, 2009 Bottle. Pours a lush, thick cheddar orange with a lively body that meshes into a nice head of white. Aroma is a nice blend of SOUR fruits: grapefruit, orange, and more grapefruit. Slick and slimy nose. Flavor is a bit of a letdown; watered-down grapefruit and pine-soaked orange that simply dies on the tongue. Watery mouthfeel. Such promise, yet such let-down. Aquilo (279), California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 30, 2009 Pours reddish amber with medium sized head. Good lacing, and the head lasts a while, too. Very aromatic fruity smell. Smells of grapefruit, and some nice piney hops. The flavor is mild and well balanced, but what I notice more is the mouthfeel. Silky smooth and buttery! The flavors are delicate and hard to identify. I can taste some grapefruit and something floral. Perhaps honeysuckle? This is a very drinkable IPA. Deschutes never disappoints. jbye4334 (719), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 29, 2009 (bottle). Pours a clear copper color. Medium size off white, frothy head. Hoppy grapefruit aroma. Avg hoppy flavor. Avg duration. Very light bitter finish. Slick texture. Good lacing. Moderate carbonation. Dogbrick (2907), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 29, 2009 Sample at Neil’s HSC initation. Pours a clear pale orange color with a medium and frothy off-white head that dissipates steadily. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of grapefruit and bready malts. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops and sweet toasted malt. The finish is hoppy for a floral aspect, although the bitterness does not linger long. Above average overall, but nothing really stands out. OldMrCrow (1202), Seattle, Washington, USA

Alright, so I was totally disappointed by this one. Relatively dark pour for an IPA. Nutty malts, restrained hops, a sour off-taste somewhere between Fantome and MGD-gone-bad (I suppose this is what other reviewers are referring to as "tea"). Mouthfeel was good, alcohol subdued (I thought <6% for sure) but nah...just doesn’t do it as an IPA. bleeng (600), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Bomber. Pours dark orange with a fluffy white dissapaiting head. I Deshutes’ beers have wonderful color. Nose is very tangy, tart, grapefruits, mild hop profile. Inviting. Taste is a bit malty and thick, fluffy, bitter and sweet hop profile. Very effervescent and dry on the end. Lighter body, easy to drink. Well done and I will search out more of these.
