Commercial Description:
Unconventional. Uncompromising. A Deschutes original. This IPA style beer utilizes hops in a way never attempted by our brewers, evident in both aroma and flavor. The Cascade and Centennial hops are balanced by 2 types of crystal malts as well as American pale malt and German pilsner malt. The wind beneath your wings, perhaps… IBU’s: 63

Bottle courtesy of blutt59. Clear orange pour. Large hop profile on the aroma. A bit catty. Subtle flavor with a hint of hops. Dries slightly but leaves a wet finish.

Draft at Humpy’s, Anchorage. Interestinly enough, this is actually red. I don’t see a chair in it. Caramel malt forms the foundation here, with a decent NW USA hoppiness on top. Definitely a sessionable brew, well put together. (#3566, 6/25/2009)

22 ounce bottle purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. Aroma is sweet, sugary (candied) with some caramel maltiness and some metallic hop notes present. Hints of spice present themselves as well. Nicely aromatic. Transparent copper body with a moderate off-white head and some nice froth. Fair legging. Sweet, chewy caramel maltiness present to start with a nice oily body. Has a nice metallic, spicy hop presence later on and some late lingering sweetness. Nicely balanced. Pleasant and drinkable.

Nice extra from Hophead22. THanks TIm! Pours a clear amber with a nice fluffy offwhite head. Nice floral hop aroma, some bready malts, some grapefruit. Flavor is grapefruit and some caramel. nicely balanced. very smooth mouthfeel. Really easy to drink. Now all they have to do is double the hops and double the malts.

Bomber, huge thanks to Brendan. Pours a sparkling clear amber with a creamy off-white head. Good pine and rock candy in the nose. Extraordinarily balanced flavor, starts with crisp pine and this refreshing cold sparkling touch, then some cool hops to round it off. I really like this one. I’m sure it’s clearly at its best when fresh. My first Deschutes brew!

Sampled on 5/29/2009. This IPA pours a medium red amber color from a 22oz bottle. Large sized white foamy head, with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is resiny and grapefruity with some malt sweetness. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are grapefruity and piney. It’s a fairly bitter IPA with a nice malt backbone. There are really sweet fruity malts balanced by some big aggressive hops. Is this a PNW take on an English India Pale Ale? Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bomber from BevMo. Clear golden-amber appearance with a white head. Very nice aroma of pale malt and piney C-hops. Flavor is piney/citrusy C-hops balanced by semi-sweet pale malt with slight caramel. Crisp and somewhat dry on the palate with medium body.
